Calling in...intermittently

I have been working for an agency for 8 years in an upper-management position. My new-ish supervisor hates me and is creating a negative/hostile work environment. My doctor thinks I qualify for intermittent FMLA due to workplace related stress. What are people's experiences with using intermittent FMLA? Is it only going to make things worse? [more inside]

Can my husband take FMLA to clean up the house, because I can't?

I'm currently not working, due to what might be fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue (and it might not, some doctors disagree, but that's aside from the issue at hand). My husband has stepped up and taken over all house and yard work, but the mess has been building up for years as my health has been deteriorating. I'm wondering if my husband can use FMLA to take some time off to help get caught up with the house and yard work? [more inside]

Help for a bipolaroid afraid of free time

I've been diagnosed with Bipolar II. I've been having a very hard time as of late, in part because of previous inadequate or incorrect treatment, and my new doctor has recommended I take medical leave for the rest of the year. In the past, I haven't done well with unstructured time, and I want to make sure that I spend this break as (therapeutically) productive as I can. [more inside]

How do I know whether I should take FMLA or short-term disability?

I broke my tailbone, and have questions about FMLA, short-term disability, choosing the right doctor to help me file for either, and how they affect my chances at future employment. You are not my lawyer or doctor, and any response to the questions and statements posed herein will constitute neither legal nor medical advice. [more inside]

Sick and Tired and don't want to lose my job. Help.

I’m sick, or overworked, or both, and need to come up with a plan to deal with it and not lose my job. My doctor hasn’t been able to find what’s wrong or help me get better. I love my work but it’s stressful, and getting worse as I get worse. I may need extended time off but not sure how to do it, or if that is even the best solution. [more inside]

Job loss and FMLA

My job is scheduled for termination at the end of the month. My wife is pregnant and could possibly be placed on bedrest about the same time. If I apply for FMLA before my termination date, would my employer have to honor my claim? My employer is unaware of the pregnancy AND I'm only speculating that bedrest could be ordered. [more inside]
