I taught a class a few years back where students had to shoot short videos. At the time, the Flip cameras were the perfect solution for this class. Sadly, Flips are no longer manufactured and I'm now at a new institution where I don't have access to my previously-acquired Flips. What the best replacement for the Flip?

I need suggestions for a video editor for work. Issues are: many formats, and I don't think the boss will go for buying me an iPad, which would be my first choice.

I'm working on a project where I need photo and video reference of a large split-flap display in action, like those old Solari departure boards that used to grace train stations and airports. Where can I still find one in use? High quality video or film references would also be welcome (like if you can think of an old movie where these are featured in action).

My sweetie gave me a Flip (UltraHD) for my birthday. I've never had a video recorder before... besides the obvious recording of fambly events and such, what sorts of cool, interesting, and potentially artsy things can I do with it?

I record videos with my Flip video camera. I download the videos. The file names are VID00001.AVI, VID00002.AVI, etc. Next time I make a video on the Flip, it starts back again at VID00001.AVI. How do I get it to keep on counting up, so I don't end up with multiple files named VID0001.AVI on my computer?

Is there a way to horizontally flip the contents of a window in Windows XP (or, specifically, in PowerDVD or a program that plays DVDs) to create a mirror image of that entire window's contents? Any type of solution would be welcome, except for facing the monitor towards an actual mirror. I'm playing an instructional dance DVD, and I need to watch the mirror image.
