Flying back from a small regional airport, I had the pleasure of discovering there were no more seats available on my return flight. I had booked the round trip on American Airlines through Expedia several weeks earlier. The airlines wouldn't let me check in online due to the lack of seats, and when I got to the airport they basically set me up on a much later flight the next day. Am I entitled to compensation for an overbooked flight? [more inside]

I took an introductory flight lesson and liked it a lot. Now what? Learning to fly an airplane seems expensive, time consuming, and mostly pointless. Yet I liked it. [more inside]

Is there a website like Kayak, but with the option to filter by the airline that operates
the flight (i.e. to exclude codeshares)? Or is it possible to do this on Kayak? I have some United credit to spend, and it's proving non-trivial because I can't spend it on flights operated by Continental et al.

What items should I not forget to bring for a 15-hour flight? Also, as a non-gamer, are there iPad games you'd recommend to make the flight go faster? [more inside]

I'm flying from BOS to BWI tonight after work. The TSA website explicitly says knitting needles are okay in carry-on.
I am only bringing carry-on. I plan on printing this page and bringing it with me, but should I still expect some grief?

Are there power outlets on International United Airlines flights? My mother is wanting to be able to charge her laptop on a plane ride to Bejing, and wants to know if she is able to either plug her laptop in on the flight, or bring a cigarette lighter power inverter in order to charge it. Does anyone have any input on this that I can tell her?

I just learned that my 12:45 Delta flight from Atlanta to Indianapolis was canceled and I was rebooked for a flight on Tuesday. This is a giant problem for me and I'm trying to figure out if there is any way to get to Indianapolis today. [more inside]

I bought a plane ticket, I subsequently had to cancel the flight, and now I'm stuck with a Delta voucher. I want to sell it and buy a ticket on another airline, which happens to have a much better flight to my destination. But where can I sell my ticket? I tried eBay and Points.com already.

On a recent Indian Air flight from Bangalore to Mumbai, the flight attendants requested that everyone make sure their window shades were up (so you can see out) for "safety reasons" during the landing. What is the reason for this?

My wife and I are travelling from O'Hare to Tokyo to Bangkok next week. We don't have the ability to bring our laptop, but I was wondering if there's a way to rent a DVD player for the trip -- either a service that operates out of O'Hare and NRT or BKK, or something where I could rent it for the trip, lock it up in a BKK locker, and retrieve it for the plane rides home. Looking for suggestions on surviving long plane rides. I'm talking about transoceanic, 10+ hour flights. Limited Google searching has found this
. I've also read the prior question,
about sleeping. I have a laptop, mp3 player, and lots of ebooks.
