Looking to buy a particular pair of shoes

Basically, I've had these shoes for a few years now, and it's not so much that I love them, but that they are the only closed-toe, non-sneaker shoes I can actually walk in. [more inside]

Looking for light pink dress flats for a wedding...

I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding in two weeks, and I desperately need pink flats! The dress looks like this. I did find shoes that I like (these) but the eBay seller mislabeled them as size 41 and they were actually 39.5, so they didn't fit. I very much liked the style of them, however. Can you help? Dressing nicely in cold bus commute

If I'm wearing ugly but comfy boots to commute and change into flats at work, what do I do about my socks? Put on cold sweaty socks at the end of the day or schlep fresh ones? Please show your work. I've already given up finding shoes to change into that will hide my socks and can go with dresses and pants. [more inside]

Cinderella I am not

I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding later this month, and I need shoes. Problem: I hate high heels, and they hate me right back. The bride has said she's fine with me wearing flats. I just went shopping, hoping to find some flats, and came home empty-handed. And so now I turn to you, o fashionable high-heel wearing people of Metafilter. [more inside]

Finding an apartment in Toronto

For someone (and his accompanying elderly mother) who is in search of a good apartment rental in Toronto, what are the best online/offline options to go about it (apart from hiring a real estate agent)? It is difficult for him to roam about the streets looking for posters (although I've read that this is probably the best way to find good deals) because he needs to find it before he arrives. It can be as small as a studio apartment, but it is important that the neighborhood is safe and that the price is somewhat cheap. It is also important that the flat is comfortable for the elderly mother (proximity to subway stations, bus stations, hospitals, stores, ...) since the son will be spending most of his time at work. Insoles for Dressy Ballet Flats

I own, and love, Naturalizer Maude flats for working as a bank teller, where I stand at least half the day and constantly hop off and on my stool. When they're new, the comfort insole is perfect for my feet. However, after a year of use, I've squashed any cushioning they have and they're killing me. What insoles will fit into a dressy ballet flat that does not have removable insoles? [more inside]

Flats with a Hidden Wedge?

Simple as this: my favorite pair of shoes is wearing out. It's a pair of Hush Puppies black suede flats with a hidden wedge--i.e. they look like flats, but are actually just a bit higher and more comfortable (for me, anyway). So the question is: where can I find flats with a hidden wedge?

Hard to find liners

Has anyone who wears women's shoe size 7 1/2 or smaller found a low rise/hidden shoe liner that doesn't show with flat pumps? (you know, ballet-style shoes, heelless pumps, whatever you want to call them). I just tried No Nonsense liners (for sizes 4-10) and they show. A lot. Tenant turned off heat and pipes froze and burst - who is responsible?

I live in a 3-unit apartment building in Chicago and left for a 2-week period during the Christmas/New Year's holiday. Before I left, I turned the heat off and one of the water pipes burst due to the cold weather. Anyone know what my responsibility is regarding paying for damages? There is no stipulation in my lease that says I have to keep the heat on during the wintertime. The damage was to a "common area" storage room that belonged to my upstairs neighbor. He wants me to pay for his insurance deductible.
