The first hit is free

I finally found a flash game that my gaming-averse partner likes (William and Sly)! Help me find more like it. I dedicate an indefensible amount of time to finding games that my partner will like so we can play them together, and I finally have an unqualified success! She loves William and Sly, a laid-back flash game in which you play a fox who explores the forest and collects "fairyflies," mushrooms, etc.

Here's what I suspect contributed to her enjoyment:

-Relaxed atmosphere (music, rain effects, etc.)
-No character death -- the only enemies are monsters who steal items you've collected, and the setbacks are minor
-Simple controls (you run and jump with the arrow keys, that's it)
-Exploration-based, rather than point-based or boss-killing, progression

Do these criteria bring any other games to mind? Anything PC is good (we don't own any consoles), and single-player is fine.

Game suggestions

Looking for game suggestions, preferrably two player. I am looking for some recommendations for games(flash/java games, or even ones that you install or pay for). The preferences are fast paced(but not necessarily) games- some favorite categories are puzzle/logic, trivia, or card/tile games.

Also, multiplayer is not essential, but preferred. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Have flu. Need game.

I need a good time suck. Recommend free games, either online or downloadable? I loved Dwarf Complete. Something like that would be ideal. WinXP, by the way.

Where are all the fun online trivia games?

I love trivia! And, I love playing games on the internet. Problem is, finding both of these has been disappointing. There are some well-known sites such as funtrivia.com. But these usually have static games that track your scores against other people.

I want to play in real time, such as the way a game like isketch.net works. When you google this question, you get a lot of sketchy sites asking for all kinds of information to register, and then no one is actually playing.

My trivia needs are so unfulfilled. Can anyone help?

I need a flash animator

I need to know: a) how much a good flash animator costs, b) where to find one and c) how long it would take to develop some simple flash based games. I have a client who needs some simple flash based games created that are much like the ones on these sites:

https://www.lumosity.com/sign_up/new

http://www.happy-neuron.com/freetrial/

http://www.mindhabits.com/

http://selfesteemgames.mcgill.ca/games/index.htm

After looking them over, most of them appear to be fairly simple, but I'm not a flash guy. I could spend an intense week learning flash at my own expense then developing a (probably very crappy/rough) simple game for a demo (since that's all he needs right now), but I'd like to know how much a good flash designer would cost, where I could find one (if I could get one on here, I'd love that!) and about how long it would take to develop a simple game like the ones above.

Alternatively, is there a flash-game creator that could be used to create simple games like that? The content of the game is un-important at this point, but will likely be similar to the games on the sites above.

Cost is, as it usually is, important here, so I'd like some realistic numbers. Pessimistic is always better than optimistic, at least for estimations like these.

(Registration is required for some of those games, but I think the last link is registration-free.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

My desk always gets overrun with creeps.

How can I beat Desktop Tower Defense on hard mode? I can beat medium mode trivially, and can get to the upper 40s/low 50s fairly consistently on hard. But never any farther. I've tried looking at the final maps of people who've won, but just looking at the configuration doesn't tell me when a given tower was built or upgraded, and order's important.

Have you beaten it? How did you do it? Help me, I can't get this game out of my head until I conquer it.

How to control flash games?

I'm playing a certain flash game. I'd like to be able to pause when I like, repeat levels at will, and so on (the game does not normally allow this). What's my best bet? Any cool standalone flash players that will let me do this?

Creating flash casino games

Im looking at creating a couple of mini flash casino games for a university project, probably just blackjack and roulette. It needs to log credit and award 'virtual money' Im hoping some people could point me in the direction of the best strategy to research and adopt. There are 2 things I need to research:

1) any links to statistics on payouts, probability of casino games

2) the best technology to interface the flash game with a database, im familiar with php linux and mysql but also know

suggestions appreciated
