I can't view flash content on my aging ibook! Firefox and Safari both quit rendering any flash sites for me (ex. onion video.) I can't upgrade to the newest version as I'm running 10.3.9 and don't have the specs to run anything higher.

I'm looking for a video artist's website (that I first saw linked on metafilter) -- the artist in question did series (maybe 9?) of web videos of a heavyset guy (possibly the artist himself.) In each of the videos, the guy INTERACTED with the cursor: for example, if you moved the arrow on the trackpad across the video, the guy would suddenly SLAP the cursor out of the way. I've tried all the tags I can think of, but cannot locate the site. Help?

[Website development filter] I have developed a site for a client. He wanted something that shows a picture with text that changes every few seconds so I created a GIF that does this. Now he says that he wants it to pause on mouseover or a click. How do I do this?

I recently started making animated movies in flash. When I upload them to Youtube or Google video, the audio translates well but the video becomes very jerky. I assume its a byproduct of the way they compress the files, but is there a way to avoid this?

What are some well-known sites who have scaled back their Flash use? I can think of flickr and mint.com, both of which started with much more of a reliance on Flash and then scaled back to having some Flash components on an otherwise XHTML-driven site.

Way back in the history of the web, when Flash was brand-new, someone did a great version of Terry Bisson's "They're Made Out of Meat" in animated Flash. It was incredibly funny. I've searched for years, but haven't been able to find this version. Anybody know if it's still out there?

I know that a lot of people use Flash™ blockers - I want to use a clickable rollover flash map of the U.S. (that will link to individual state pages) in a site that I'm designing. Is there a way to show a regular HTML image map if the user has flash blocked? (so both users get a clickable map of some kind). Solutions in any of these: html/javascript/php will work. TIA!
