Can you identify this not-famous game? Filter: Looking for an online game I lost. A very simplistic, grid-based drag-and-line-up same-colored squares game (Flash). I want to locate the game and hopefully download it for offline play. But first I need to find it!

After spending more time on them than he should, my 7 year old has decided that he wants to make his own flash game. I have done the obligatory googling without finding anything obviously suitable.
Are there any applications out there (free or $) designed or suited for kids? I don't imagine that he will be making anything from scratch, but assume there are some drag and drop applications out there with which he can have fun. Thanks.

I'm looking for a way to record/save a movie file that is streamed through flash. The source for the page indicates that player.swf is the function used to display the video, and the source of the video stream is a .m4v file. However, I cannot directly access the .m4v file by putting that address into my browser (I get an permission denied error). Is there an (ideally free) way to record or save this stream to a normal video file on my computer? I'm on a Mac.

Advice to an absolute beginner: Should I try to learn Flash and ActionScript for creating games and rapid prototyping of ideas? Or some other technology? Because of iOS, is Flash going the way of the dodo? If I try to learn Flash, will I be painting myself into a tech corner, so to speak?

My company is small and we need a website. We have about 2 weeks to get it done. Of the 10, I am by far the most web savvy and technically proficient - but I am, sadly. not a coder. While racking our brains for an alternative we stumbled upon cloversites.com and we were immediately impressed. But we have a few issues with the overall options...

A colleague is finding that a page on a server that includes a SWF can load smoothly and be viewed in its entirety, but it generates a JavaScript error message whenever that page is unloaded, but only in IE7 and IE8. (Line 1, Char 1, "Access is denied", Code 0, URL=SWF file name). Firefox 3.6 and IE6 have no problems at all. For some reason, the page has been designed to load the SWF directly into an iframe's src attribute instead of using the usual OBJECT and EMBED tags and associated parameters within a separate HTML page. Is this unloading problem simply IE7 and IE8 being extra-vigilant about security with non-standard code?

I'm trying to get my head round the wealth of technologies available for creating "Rich" internet applications - featuring sound, graphics, interaction, animation - specifically from the client side. Flash, ActionScript, Silverlight, Expression, JavaFX, Java, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery... In particular, I'm looking for the long view, preferably from people working in the field: what skills do you think you will you be looking for in new recruits a few years from now? And why?

Does anybody (in the top-tier creative-professional/digital artist)
really use Flash anymore? I'm talking about the timeline-based-vector-animation-only side of Flash - not the ActionScript side. I'm teaching a (somewhat condensed/potentially fast-paced) class in media production - is it really worth it for the students to learn the vector-animation if it's really no longer something widely used in the creative industry (esp. when there are much better options)?

I'm trying to find a little Japanese flash game I found in either 08 or 09. It was a cute, quirky thing where you were a little sumo and you had to smash small things to build up your strength - eventually going to to smash very large things like temples and bits of mountain.

I've been having problems with YouTube over the last couple of days. Most of the time it works just fine, but it's freaked out a few times, and not worked for an hour or so, and then gotten better. Here's what happens: The pages looks like
this (YouTube homepage), and videos won't play (annoyingly enough, page-ads play just fine). It tells me that my Flash player isn't up to date, which it is. Other flash-things work just fine, including other video sharing websites. Google Chrome is my primary browser but the same thing happens in Firefox. I've asked around and no one I know has had the same problem. What is wrong and how can I fix it?
