flashfilter: Good Flash Website Templates - I'm technically capable but we need something quickly and don't have much money. We have access to Flash CS3 pro, Flex Builder 3, etc. I can get around in CS3 and can handle ActionScript. I, however, have no design skills at all. We already have artwork, logos, and a color scheme. Is there anywhere I can get free/cheap pre-built flash website templates that don't suck? Doing a few Google searches come up with a bunch of hokey template sites which all seem to share the same bunch of lousy templates.

Flash? After effects? Maya? Toon Boom? Something else? I want to make some very simple abstract animation videos. The simplest would be just full screens of solid colors fading slowly into each other. Slightly more complex would be the same full screens of colors fading into each other, but not all at once. That is, maybe start the fade in the center or corner, and slowly leak in the new color. Or another slightly more complex: The screen divided into multiple blocks of different color that slowly fade into other colors. Real simple, slow, mellow stuff. So, what's the right software for that? Thanks!

I reformatted my computer today, and I just finished reinstalling all of the programs i can't live without (Media Monkey, VLC, Firefox, uTorrent, you get the idea.) For some reason I think I remember that I had found an alternative to installing Adobe Flash Player. I really dislike Adobe Flash, though I'm sure its for stupid and mostly superficial reasons. Does anyone have any idea of an alternative? (not the one microsoft just came out with either.)

[ Flash Filter ] Ok. So after sketching out my client's site, they have informed me that they want the white cross (with the blue gradient) to basically fade, from the outside in to the center, and perhaps have a little sparkle and 'ding' noise as the animation completes. As far as I can come up with, flash is the only way this is going to happen. My question is, how am I going to make this work? [more inside]

Why doesn't Flash work properly in Firefox (WinXP)? When flash is embedded in a webpage Firefox handles it with no difficulty. But when I just want to view the applet itself, without it being embedded I get a message from the program asking me what I want to do with the file and then I get into a loop because it opens another instance of Firefox to handle it! I have a Flash animation (which ends in .app) that I'd like to use in Power Point (it's PP x for Mc) on a MacBook Pro. But I can't seem to find any way to do it. Has anyone had any luck with this, or know of any converters, or know some other way to link to the animation via PowerPoint but not actually as a slide?

I'm trying to get all the pertinent documents off of a Gateway 2000 PC running Windows 98 on to a new Dell running Vista Home Premium. The CD drive on the Gateway doesn't work, it has a floppy drive, and the CAT5 cable doesn't fit in the telephone only jacks. I tried to use my USB stick, but it can't find the drivers as it's not connected to the internet. The new computer has no floppy drive, so I can't just put the driver on a floppy. I need to make a presentation of some photos. I use a MacBook pro. I need some sort of Flash picture viewer, something slicker than iPhoto. It doesnt have to be for online, just something i can show people on the laptop. I have tried downloading Simple Viewer, and for the life of me can't get it to work. Is there something easier, with just a drag and drop your jpegs into a box style thing?

I've recently purchased a new external USB DVD drive, as I do not have a floppy drive or internal CD/DVD drive on this windows PC. I am trying to set it up now for dual-booting Solaris+Ubuntu but, even after updating the BIOS (Phoenix 6.00) I cannot boot a USB drive. First, does anyone have a way I could somehow add USB drivers as a boot option (along with XP), so that I can then add Solaris and Ubuntu (making it four options at boot)? [more inside]

I'm a social psychologist looking for some advice about where to find a programmer to write what would basically be a very simple flash-type game. The game itself would require some simple user-interactiveness (e.g. selecting options), a fairly low level of graphics (maybe not stick figures, but nothing too artsy), and the ability to collect and store user data. Any suggestions? [more inside]
