Every time I visit Facebook, my Firefox history tab inexplicably lists "Boingo | the worldwide leader in wi-fi software and services." When I click on it, it takes me to my FB page. I'm totally confused why it's there or how to get rid of it. Any advice?
For some months now, seemingly at random, Firefox's UI will completely freeze up. Sometimes it happens after a couple of days, but sometimes after just a few minutes. When it happens, usually it's stuck and must be closed. There's a few weird things about it though, which lead me to believe it might be a Flash or hardware acceleration problem.... [more inside]

I've decided to switch over completely to Google Chrome, and on my work laptop it's NBD. My home laptop, however, asks me EVERY DAMN TIME I START CHROME if I want to make it my default browser; clicking OK does nothing (Firefox is still the default). More inside... [more inside]
Now that SPOI's Youtube Options has gone subscription-only, what options are there for downloading Youtube videos in Chrome or Firefox? Userscripts.org seems to have finally bitten the dust, and the scripts it had were out of date.

I read a forum that uses emoticons a lot, and there is a specific one I'd like to hide. I don't mind the rest, so a solution that excludes/disables that single file would be preferred. However if there are only ways to hide them all, I'm open to that, too. I'd prefer solutions compatible with Chrome and OSX 10.9.2, but I use other browsers and operating systems as well, so all suggestions are helpful. [more inside]

I apparently have bad or damaged Google Web Fonts installed on a Windows 7 machine. Fun fact, they are not in the Windows Fonts directory. Text is coming up gnarly, super aliased, big and chunky in both FireFox and Chrome as they appear to be loading a local cache of the font(s) as opposed to hitting Google for them. Where are they? How can I fix this? [more inside]
I used to have a very useful Firefox plugin which would allow me to manage my numerous tabs. I lost it during a machine crisis and I'm looking for a replacement. [more inside]

The past few days (beginning of this week?) I've been having a problem with fonts acting wonky in Firefox at work... They look like partially loaded progressive JPEGs. I'm using Windows 7 (a dell computer, nothing fancy). I feel like it's trying to render them progressively and then the cleartype isn't functioning properly, so only some of the colors load, leaving a sort of "blocky" look to it. [more inside]
I'm supposed to use "http://theoldreader.com/feeds/subscribe?url=%s" in the firefox feed handler, but I'm unclear exactly HOW. I know that replacing the "%s" with the url I'm wanting to add works, but I don't know how to get firefox to replace the '%s' with the current url. Adding it as a bookmark doesn't appear to work. Thoughts?
I love YousableTubeFix for Firefox, which sets global preferences for things like preferred resolution (the most important feature to me), default player size, and whether to autoplay videos on channel pages. The problem: it's still blocking ads even though I told it not to. Could you recommend any other Youtube-preference-modifying Firefox userscripts or add-ons that have a similar purpose but without accidentally blocking the ads? [more inside]

I have a Macbook with OS X 10.5.8 and Firefox 13.0.1. The printing scale under File -> Page Setup in Firefox has randomly started defaulting to 60%. So every time I restart Firefox, I have to go in there and change it back to 100% before I print anything. I can't figure out how to change it back. Is this a Firefox thing, or a printer thing? Recently when I print with Firefox, it tries to squeeze everything into 1 page. The text is TINY. I have tried "Print 100%", Scale to Fit, Print regular in preferences (HP Laserjet 4200). I have tried to print with different drivers. Nothing I do save "Print 200+%" works, and that's absolutely absurd to have to do each time. Chrome prints things fine, but I really don't want to have to use a different browser each time... Anybody have an idea? Any info I seem to find on the web comes up with old FF2 and FF3 printing issues. Nothing with a more current version on the mozilla forums.
Weirdest Firefox problem ever. Some text, across different sites, appears scrambled -- or, more accurately is rot-2. Uninstalling, deleting profile and re-installing did not help. WTF? [more inside]

Yesterday, my firefox install on ubuntu started misbehaving. The bookmarks toolbar only shows up if I remove it and and add it again. There are no URLs in Address bar and no URL display down where the status bar used to be. Several plugins have stopped working without being disabled. Sometimes tabs can't be closed. No session management and on and on. The problem seems to be some interaction of a ubuntu update and firefox not cooperating. After googling I have nothing and am at a complete loss for how to fix it. Where do people turn for support for ubuntu firefox problems that don't require them to be on either development team? My work computer just upgraded to Firefox 8 (which I've had at home for a while and that's been fine) and I can't figure out how to do this one thing it did in old Firefox. So in whatever version I was using previously, I could click on a tiny downward-pointing arrow on a tab (or right near a tab, I don't remember, or maybe right near the back button) and get to that tab's recent history, so I could go back to recent searches or whatever else (the regular Recent History doesn't work for this, as I have multiple tabs open at a time, and the titles appear the same on my internal database). How do I bring this magic arrow back to new Firefox? I really need to be able to view a specific tab's recent history.

Firefox / WIN7: I type in two hyphens IE -- and word processor (LibreOffice Writer) changes them into M dash IE – which is what I would love to see happen in Firefox. Alternately, if this cannot be done, is there a simple way to do this with some sort of macro on my puter? Plus, hey, while we're here, can we turn three periods IE ... into an ellipsis IE … ?
