Opera 9.5: Add parameter to nickname?

Opera 9.5: Add parameters to a bookmark's nickname? I am switching from Firefox 3.0 to Opera 9.5, mostly for fun.

In FF I can make a quicksearch bookmark to Amazon (or Google, etc.), add keyword of 'a' or 'amz' or whatever in the properties, then in the address bar type 'amz my book title', hit enter and I'm on Amazon with 'my book title' search executed.

Opera's nickname feature is similar. But the quicksearch only works if the nickname is a single letter. 'a' + parameter will work if pointed toward this URL, but 'amz' + title won't work.

Is there a way to do this in Opera? I use it constantly in FF.

Thanks.

Firefox "browser identification" extension

Is there a Firefox extension that changes the way my browser is identified? I know that Opera will let you mask the browser identification so that a site you visit thinks you're actually running Firefox or IE instead of Opera...now I just want this same capability in Firefox. I can't seem to find one in the Mozilla Add-ons site. Many websites can present content based on what they identify your browser and operating system as. In the old days I'd see a site to tell people to download the latest Internet Explorer or whatever if their browser wasn't compatible with the site. Yesterday I ran into this exact problem on another site, which thinks I'm running some old Netscape or something and won't let me get to any content. (I'm actually running BonEcho with is an Mac-optimized Firefox.)

This stupid website doesn't like my operating system, help me trick it

I'm currently using a computer with Windows x64 as its operating system and I need to log into a tax website to file my taxes, but the website does not support my operating system. I've tried Firefox, IE, and Opera, so it is definitely the operating system. Is there a plugin for any of the above mentioned browsers that will identify my operating system as plain ol' vanilla Windows XP?

Firefox stalls on certain sites and Opera 8 font-rendering bug

I'm having major problems with both Firefox (my browser of choice) and Opera 8. Firefox stalls consistently for a considerable amount of time (1 min - 5 mins) on specific sites (for instance del.icio.us/popular/) and Opera has a font-rendering bug on most sites (for instance, again, del.icio.us/popular/). Regarding the firefox problem (screenshot):
- oddly, during the time that firefox is not responding, the CPU usage is only between 0% and 2%.
- if, in the same session, I visit the site again or refresh it, it loads just fine. However, the problem can present itself for different sites multiple times in one session.
- I have Firefox 1.5, though I've had the problem since at least 1.0.4
- I've tried deleting my profile and creating a new one. No luck.
- I don't have any extensions installed, other than the Talkbalk one that comes with firefox.
- I've tried uninstalling the current version and reinstalling to a different directory. Again, no luck.

As far as the Opera 8 rendering bug is concerned (screenshot) , even when the website's css specifies a font that it should use to render the page, it will instead render the page with regular Bauer Bodoni LT in some instances and Bauer Bodoni LT RomanSC in others. It makes Opera completely unusable, since I can't tolerate reading long amounts of text in small caps. Maybe this will provide a clue: about a month ago wikipedia used to be displayed in Bauer Bodoni LT RomanSC, but now it shows up with a sans-serif font. Please help!

Firefox page scaling?

Firefox filter: I like Firefox but everything looks tiny on my high res laptop screen. Is there a trick to make it "fit to window" like Opera does? Opera seems to scale up the page as well as the text to fill the screen nicely while Firefox will scale the text up but still have it all squished into a skinny page. It's most pronounced in blogs. I'm happy with Opera but Firefox just does some things better...but better doesn't matter if you can't see it! Any suggestions?

No scrolly makes beth mad!

Help me leave Internet Explorer behind. I want to use Opera or Firefox, but my touchpad scrolling function doesn't work in either of them. Am I doomed to stick with IE if I want to be able to scroll easily? Please tell me "no". I have turned up many reports of this problem on Google, but little in the way of solutions. One solution I did try involved editing an .ini file for my touchpad, and doing so not only didn't fix the problem, but it broke my scrolling ability in IE, too! Thankfully I got it back when I reversed my changes.

Fwiw, I have a Compaq notebook with a Synaptics touchpad, and it's only a few months old.

Firefox as Default Browswer in Thunderbird?

How do I get Firefox to be the browser of choice for Thunderbird in OS X? I'm running OS X on my iBook, with Firefox 1.0 and Thunderbird 1.0. I've set Firefox to be the default browser in OS X for .html and .htm files. However, links in Thunderbird messages and RSS feeds open up in Opera anyway. I've asked some more Mac-savvy friends than I, and they're also stumped. This is *really* annoying - doubly so since I just set up RSS feeds - and I'd be real apprecative if someone could rid me of this bother.

Help me choose the best web browser

Mozilla? Firefox? Camino? I'm ready to try a new browser, but I'm confused by the differences between these three. Currently using Safari 1.2.2 on an iMac and an iBook, both with 10.3.4. I have a license for Opera, but it's simply more than I need. I don't need IRC and I don't need HTML (yet?). I would like for it to sync bookmarks between the 2 Macs (I have iSync and a .mac account) and to work reasonably well with AppleMail, Address Book, etc. What's the best choice for a non-geeky girl?
