FireFoxExtension/Theme Filter
I have been using FireFox for a while now and prefer it to other browser offerings but am having a recurring issue that I can't seem to find any help on. Everytime I try to download and install a new theme or extension, it downloads, FireFox asks me if I want to install it, it appears to install it but the extension or theme never shows up in the relevant window. Did I change some setting to break the extensions? (MI)

I'm using the latest Firefox, with a few basic plugins. In the past few days, I had these alert boxes that popping when clicking a link that only display a single digit and the 'ok' button. What's a' happenin'?

I am a frequent reader of
Chowhound's message boards but the several-megabytes-long message index pages are a huge pain in the ass. I usually let the whole index load and then open threads into new windows/tabs, but that's not an entirely convenient situation. Does anyone know of a Firefox extension or other work-around that will let me load some specified fraction of a specific page whenever I go to it? Then I could always load only, say, the first (and newest) 100K worth of messages on Chowhound.

Why does Firefox insist on loading pages with Unicode character coding, when I prefer Western character coding? The former turns high-ASCII characters like ยง into question marks; the latter displays these normally. Does this happen to anyone else, and can I fix it?

Is it possible to stop Mozilla/Firefox from truncating tooltips (or whatever the link
title="popping stuff" popup things are called)? I assume this is somehow a "feature," not a bug, but it really pisses me off.
