Firefox, don't push me away.

Why are my Firefox privacy settings getting changed every time I exit and restart Firefox? This started happening about a week ago. I'll open FF, and notice I have trouble logging into my typical sites that require a login (AskMeFi, Gmail, etc). In options, I see that under History, the first two boxes have been unchecked (keeping history for 9 days, keeping what I enter in forms and search bars). More importantly, under Cookies, the option to accept cookies from sites is unchecked. I check them and carry on in FF, but if I exit and restart, they are unchecked again.

I'm running the latest version of Firefox. I also run Digsby, which seems to have no problems keeping me logged into Gmail, Facebook, etc. I've installed and uninstalled several apps and extensions, so I'm not sure what I could trace it to. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox today, but that didn't have an effect.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

No, really, it's still the same computer!

What is losing some of my identifying information from Firefox every time I reboot the computer? I'm running Firefox v. 2.0.0.12 on Windows Vista with a Vaio VGN-N230E laptop. Every time I reboot the computer (as for installation of certain updates), I find that I am no longer logged into some sites that normally remember me (Metafilter, for one), and financial pages that require verification beyond a password when you access them from a different computer think I'm on a new computer (this is the only one I use) and require me to jump through verification hoops (Chase has one that requires them to call me with a PIN, which was a problem when their verification system was down for nearly a month--I rely on being able to pay certain bills online).

Is there anything I can change about my computer settings so that I'm still me after a reboot? Is this a cookie issue? I have cookies set to only delete when they expire, and I looked in the cookie manager and found tons of cookies (though, come to think of it, none from websites I know are affected, and those should be leaving some, right?).

My browser is sick!

I'm having some really strange cookie issues with Firefox (2.01). For starters, I can't access www.google.com... First off, my specs: I'm on XP, running Firefox 2.0 (which recently upgraded itself to 2.01). Weird things are happening that I can't figure out.

--I'm in Japan, and when I type in www.google.com, it takes me to www.google.co.jp, the Japanese Google site. In the bottom corner, it'll say "Google in English" and a link to the English site, but I click it and it does nothing. I've been using ahoo search this past week. Various random Google pages, like my Google Calendar page, is also in Japanese.

--Yahoo won't save my login info. I have to type in my damn username and password everytime I check my email.

Other strange things: YouTube videos don't play automatically, and I have to hit the "play" button several times. Don't have this problem with Google video or other video sites. And my Hotmail! I have to manually log in like with Yahoo, and do so successfully, but when I click on "inbox", it logs me out!

I've tried simply deleting my cookies, but that didn't do anything--I still have the same problems. Browser Masters, whatever shall I do?

Firefox 2.0 and mp3tunes: Help me glue my cookie back together

Firefox 2.0 and mp3tunes: Help me glue my cookie back together So, I have installed the spankin' new FF 2.0 and visited my account on mp3tunes.com. All was was well, easy login as usual, flawless. Being overly curious, I removed mp3tunes from my allowed exceptions permissions (tools -> options -> privacy -> exceptions) to make sure the feature was still working under the new release. Well, now I cannot access mp3tunes and cannot reset the cookie.

See here for the original method in FF 1.5 - This eliminates the need to login to a site after exiting the browser

FF is acting as though mp3tunes is a blocked site but it is not listed as such in the exceptions and will not 'stick' in my list of allowed sites. I cannot log in w/out using the 'open in ie tab' option - I only go through the login loop. I haven't tried any other allowed sites in fear of this happening again.

Also relevant: I have yet to find a cookie management extension that will wake up my furry orange friend

Please help a desperate no-ie-likin' music fan!

bonus question: any forum out there for mp3tunes aside from the Linspire community?

Problems with Firefox & OSX. Might be my cookies!

Strange behavior on Firefox / OSX. I think it might be a problem with cookies. I use Firefox on OSX (latest versions of both). I'm seeing the following problems:

On google maps, none of my searches are working. If I follow a link to a google map, I can see it and zoom, print, etc., but if I use the search box at the top, nothing happens. It connects to google and refreshes the page, but the map doesn't change and no results are found. I've seen this problem for about a week now.

Then this happened:

I went to Ask MeFi to post this question, and I was logged out. (I never log out). I logged in and it brought me to MeFi front page. I clicked on Ask MeFi and I was logged out. I logged in a couple times and each time I was brought back to the Ask MeFi front page, not logged in.

I use Cookie Culler and have never had a problem. I cleared all of my Metafilter cookies and google map cookies and tried again, getting the same results. Everything works fine on Safari, but I want it to work in Firefox! Any thoughts?

Modifying cookies from various websites

Is there a utility or method to modify the expiry date of a cookie in Firefox from any website? I have several "saved searches" on a website that are set to expire in 30 days, but I'd like to be able to use them indefinitely when I'm on the site. I don't think there's any options in Firefox itself to extend the expiry.

I'm not able to post while at work. Do I need to log out at my home computer first? Also, I can't access MeTa or AskMe. I use same versions of Firefox at both locations, both accept cookies. Thanks.

Who's eating my Firefox cookies?

Firefox question: Why do my cookies for sites such as the Washington Post or New York Times keep disappearing? I can not say for sure, but it seems time related - if I do not visit the site in a few weeks all of a sudden it is asking for my login info. Is there some way to prevent this?
