When using Firefox and Chrome, is there I way that I can make the browser load new tabs while I am simultaneously browsing on a separate tab? [more inside]
I've been searching Firefox add-ons specifically and googling in general but I don't see anything out there that will implement this behavior via a keystroke or right-click action: when I position my cursor in line X on a web page, I want a one-click or one-keystroke way to scroll the page down until line X is at the very top of the browser window. Every time I visit Facebook, my Firefox history tab inexplicably lists "Boingo | the worldwide leader in wi-fi software and services." When I click on it, it takes me to my FB page. I'm totally confused why it's there or how to get rid of it. Any advice?
Unusual browser behaviour in Firefox - I can't re-open closed tabs any more. For a long time I've made use of Firefox's 're-open closed tabs' feature - (CTRL-SHIFT-T on a PC). I would shut a tab just as I realised I still needed it, hit the keys and it pinged back just as it was. However, in the last couple of months this functionality has totally vanished and that key combo simply brings up a new blank window. What have I broken? In a related development, about 50% of the time, CTRL-clicking on a browser link doesn't open the link in a new tab, it opens a blank tab instead. Any suggestions welcome.
Now that SPOI's Youtube Options has gone subscription-only, what options are there for downloading Youtube videos in Chrome or Firefox? Userscripts.org seems to have finally bitten the dust, and the scripts it had were out of date.

While on Firefox (12.0) for my Mac (OS 10.5.8) I hit a mail link which caused my Firefox window to open rapidly window on window ad infinitum. It locked up my mac and I couldn't even get to Firefox Preferences/Tools etc without multiple windows opening on top. I force- quit. I restarted and this did not help. I uninstalled an reinstalled and this did not help. It hit about midnight and stupid and tired, I deleted my entire profile....The whole blasted thing in a rash moment. So unlike available articles on Mozilla for retrieving missing/lost/messed with profiles mine is simply bye-bye by my own hand. I emailed Mozilla and got these instructions: "Try to delete the profiles.ini file *http://kb.mozillazine.org/profiles.ini_file *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox" I don't have the ini file in the locations specified nor elsewhere. This link did not seem to help, either. I tried entering a terminal command for Firefox (cannot find page for that now) and no luck. If I click on Firefox, it says "Firefox is already open, only one copy can be in use." (Nothing else is open and I even restarted the computer a few times.) Any ideas? I like Firefox the best and would like to use it. And yes, I was an idiot to delete things so will take appropriate lashings.

Some automatically log me on, but require PW confirmation if I want to do something that may potentially compromise my security (LinkedIn, Amazon). Some websites demand a login each time I access the page (banking/trading sites; some of which save my login ID, none of which save my PW).I know precious little about this stuff. Cookies, is it? I find that I am consistently misspelling a certain proper name when sending mail to a friend who bears that name. I need a way to force the spell check built in to Firefox to flag the improper spelling. This is the exact opposite of the Firefox personal dictionary, which lets you prevent the spell check from flagging uncommon words you use that you know are spelled correctly. I've Googled extensively, and cannot find a solution. Can anyone provide an answer? I am running Firefox 3.5.9 on Ubuntu Linux 9.10 (Karmic Koala).

I'm running Firefox 3.6 on my Mac (OS X.6.2). Yet when I try to load extensions that work on versions 3.5 & higher, they say I need to upgrade my browser. One extension had the following error message: "______" could not be installed because it is not compatible with your Firefox build type (Darwin_x86-gcc3)." Also, youtube is claiming that I'm running a version of Firefox that will soon be incompatible with their website. What gives? Why does everyone think I'm running an older version of Firefox, and how do I fix this?
