Am I being fired? I was recently converted from a full-time employee at a $5 billion multi-national company to a contractor working at the same company. Now, my contractor boss has called me in for meetings with the contracting company's HR rep for "issues". Oh yeah, I'm pregnant too. [more inside]

I'm trying to figure out how to be less paranoid and obsessive and how to not replay past and future negative scenarios in my head constantly – eventually getting myself in trouble. Often, I go over negative things that I've overheard or have suspicions about, and negative recent occurrences (like getting fired recently or conversations that might have left me in a bad light in someone else’s view). I feel paranoid about anything I cannot control and have ever had problems with perhaps. I was recently fired from a job for generally being too confrontational with my boss about things I saw going wrong and things I was feeling paranoid about. The thing is -- the paranoia is somewhat justified, and I have a hard time believing that it's possible not to worry about stuff all the time. And now at my new job I feel that I’m at risk of the same behavior, feeling jaded already about my new work situation and worrying constantly about everything in my life (and about not having a life, and even about worrying too much itself!) – how can I feel more relaxed and just chill out? Years ago, I was fired from a job after raising concerns I had over some questionable practices with my manager and a V.P. I did some research recently and learned the company's investors killed the company - for exactly the things I was concerned about. Do I even bother to raise this in an interview if asked about the job? (Naturally, there's more inside.) [more inside]

Someone I know was fired on Saturday, 9/29, from his hourly job. He was eligible to start receiving benefits (after the six month waiting period) on 10/1.
We live in a at-will state and I know you can be fired or quit for most any reason. I'm not wondering about the reason he was fired--I am wondering about the timing of it. It seems to me that the company conveniently got rid of him right before he became benefit-eligible as a cost-saving measure, and I am curious if this is in any way unlawful?
We are in Georgia.

I had low-level jobs before going back to school for legal secretary, graduating in 2003. I was successful at 2 legal secretary jobs after that but had to quit each one due to needing better benefits or better working conditions. But now this 3rd job I got fired from last week after 5 months, due to a combination of my poor concentration and my boss's critically obsessive perfectionism. I had been fired numerous times before going back to school, but now I thought I was headed for a real career. Since my concentration isn't the greatest, I'm wondering about a career change, but the only thing that looks good on my resume is the legal secretary stuff. I still haven't told my parents, whom I live with, that I got fired yet again. The errors I was making weren't critical, really mostly stuff like [more inside]

About a year ago, I was unjustly fired. My employer was careful to do it in a way to avoid any legal disputes. How does one get over thoughts of revenge and confrontation. I've considered sending a letter to the person responsible, explaining exactly how I feel about it all. I was never given a proper explaination and the whole thing feels unresolved. I realize a letter is somewhat juvenile and unproductive but I feel this might help me cope. I really want to put this all behind me.
