My family has lost touch with my oldest brother. He is retired and reclusive by nature but we would still like to know where he is living.
The last thing we know is that he sold his home in California some time in 2009 and then seems to have disappeared.
He may have moved out of the country as I can imagine he wasn't very happy with the Obama election and he had mentioned in the past his desire to move away from the U.S. either to Ireland or Buenos Aires.
Can anyone suggest a few good "finder" sites, hopefully free or nominally priced?

My daughter is a huge Ruff Ruffman fan. She really wants a t-shirt with Ruff on it, but such a thing does not exist - well, at least there's no 'official' Ruff shirt from PBS or WGBH.
I have been given a Dad Mission: procure a shirt by any means necessary. Can anyone find a Ruff graphic large enough to print on a shirt? (Format doesn't matter.) Have I missed a secret stash of RuffWear for sale somewhere? Does anyone know anyone who knows Ruff? Help me, Ask, my squeaky toy has lost it's squeak!

I'm trying to find a vaguely remembered short story. The story was about a woman whose baby was in the NICU and then passes away. What I distinctly remember is that peppered throughout the story were phrases such as "A pride of lions. A gaggle of geese. A flock of doves." Lists of names for collectives of animals started and ended the piece, I think. In between was a very sad story about a baby, including the line "unplug my baby like he's a toaster?" or something very similar. Sound familiar to anyone?

I'm writing an query in MS Access to get column 1 = product ID, column 2 = product Description. However, the description field has addtional spec data that I don't need. I want to remove anything after the first word, meaning remove after the first blank space.
Example:
Prod ID Prod Desc
10-362-3 Packing DT
12-345-5 Seal XT L-23
Desired result:
10-362-3 Packing
12-345-5 Seal
I tried to use FIND or SEARCH functions to identify the position of the first blank space and to truncate everything after that. However, Access does not recoganize either FIND or SEARCH. Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish this? Thanks.

Firefox pet peeve: whilst using the otherwise brilliant "find" feature, and typing in some text that isn't found in the page, there's this "bonk" sound, which is offputting at first, then progressively passes through annoying to maddening, especially at 4am when your wife is sleeping and you forgot to turn of the speakers.
Is there a way to turn of this "bonk"?

Using her name and the beauty of the interweb, i have found that she has married and is probably living in California. Bookmending tape. I'm looking for brands/recommendations for 1/2" - 1" wide bookmending tape, to fix broken hinges, and/or cracked spines from the inside, and with adhesive that will not damage the paper. I want to locate someone: but I only have flimsy search material.
The last address I have for him is from around 1970 in Naples,Italy. I know his full name & d.o.b. I know a few other random details about him (one of his sister's names, his fathers business, his job in 1970 etc.) He has a fairly unusual surname, but common first and middle names.
I've found an online Italian phone directory (pronto.it), he's not listed. He may be dead, he may have emigrated or he may just not be listed.
The geneaology websites appear to be (a scam and/or) dealing with details that are much older than I'm looking for. I've searched on familysearch.org for free but no luck there either.
Can any Italian speaking mefi users tell me if there are any newspapers with birth, death & marriage announcements for Napoli? I've tried using babelfish + "google translate" to read the paper's web sites that I can find, but I can't seem to see anything like that in them.
