Wells Fargo just royally screwed me during one of the most difficult financial weeks of my life, putting me in a position where I won't even have food money or enough gas money to get to work -- until next TUESDAY! I'm spitting mad. My questions are twofold: 1) I want to know if there's anything I can do to turn this situation around now or do I have to just wait; 2) My money problems are temporary and I'll be in the red within a year. Is it possible to complain or make a statement about this episode with Wells Fargo that would ever be heard? Should I just bitterly move on and take my business elsewhere, feeling like a victim? 3) Do you have a bank that you recommend doing business with instead -- one that treats customers with actual respect? OK, based on AskMeFi's advice on how to go about finding the right therapist, I should set up appointments with a few different financial advisers to determine a good fit. But how do I go about making the initial selection in the first place, and once there what questions to ask and how to assess their responses? [more inside]

My husband of five months and I have different attitudes towards money. He’s more money conscious that I am, at least, that’s what he calls it. I think of his “money-consciousness” as a cross between minor cheapness and money obsession. I am right now at a crossroads in the relationship and I don’t know how to solve it or whether I should even continue it. [more inside]

Look, I truly do get the “know your income, know your expenses” bit about budgeting. And I’m pretty frugal in my habits. My problem is this, as the financial head of this family, I have to decide what we will spend our inadequate resources on. So in general, how to prioritise discretionary spending in a fair and efficient manner? [more inside]

I’m an early-30’s guy, seeing an early-30’s girl who I think I could be with long term. She is unquestionably an awesome person, and I appreciate the fact that she brings a different perspective and background to the relationship than my own. As with many things, these differences can be a double-edged sword. Read on, below... [more inside]

My wife and I have a relatively high combined income for the first time ever (much to our surprise), but we are pretty financially unsophisticated and getting hit hard by taxes. I am a professional person and will be "downsized" from my current company next month. Since I am changing professions in the meantime, it may take 4 to 6 months to secure my next place of employment. Financial resources are my concern. I have 6 months of mortgage payments saved up, and no other debt beyond monthly utilities, cable, internet, etc. I do have savings I can draw from, and I am considering applying for state unemployment benefits. I may get a small severance package from the current employer. Would it be wise to seek a line of credit while I'm still employed? Would this put my house in jeopardy should it take longer to find work? Are there other resources I should consider? [more inside]

I have finally paid off all my delinquent credit card debts. My credit rating is pretty crappy though. But I now have a secure job, and am now ready to re-open some of the closed accounts (if it's even possible), and also hopefully reinstate the original credit-limits on them. But there's that pesky issue of my credit rating standing in the way. What is my best strategy to get my credit back on track? [more inside]

I've got two credit cards with interest rates of 21.24% and 23% - both with balances over $5K. Both banks have sent me convenience checks - one with 3.99% fixed APR for life of balance - the other with 0% through August (then 17% after). Can I 'swap' the debt from one card to the other by using a convenience checks to pay the balance and getting lower interest rates? I'm paying my debt off every month - but if I can get it to grow slower, I thought this would be a way to do that.

My life is overflowing with stress. I have a wife and a 3 year old. We moved recently to a metropolitan area and we are having serious issues adjusting. I may have miscalculated the financial burden of where we are living, although we moved here to make more money, in addition my wife is starting two new jobs and is now having health problems (which she is blaming on the stress). Neither of us are the most organized people in the world and family won't be much help financially (in fact issues on my side of the family are adding to the stress). If you've been in this sort of situation, how the hell do I get out? What is the first step?

How should I repair my bad credit? I'm 26, my income ($53k) exceeds my expenses and I have only $1.5k debt, but I was awful about paying bills on time until the last year or so. Now I'm finding it difficult to secure a car loan. I haven't even gotten a credit report because I'm afraid to look at it. I will probably end up talking to a credit counselor, but I thought I'd ask for advice before I do. College kids, don't wait until the utility bill is yellow to pay it. Trust me.
