I'm a member of hundreds of Facebook groups, which I enjoy except for the fact that their owners sometimes send me a direct email. The result is dozens of direct emails that I can't seem to find a setting inside Facebook to block. So then I move to my Gmail filters. Is there a way to filter out the Facebook group mails using Gmail filters? The identifying feature of mails from groups is that their subject header contains quote marks, so the sender is always Facebook and the subject header is always: "Group Name" sent you a message on Facebook. My question is: how do I teach Gmail to distinguish between these mails and mails from my actual friends, which don't have the quote marks around them?

About a year ago, I accidentally archived a ton of old emails in my Gmail account, without putting any labels on any of them. (I thought I knew how archiving worked at the time, but obviously I was wrong) [more inside]

In GMail, is there a way to mark incoming emails as read, if it has a specific word or sender? I thought I had seen this in the filter options before, but now that I am trying to do it, I don't see it.

Argh! Gmail image spam! I'm getting 20 of these a day. Since Google has failed to filter these messages, is there a workaround I can use? Also, would simply deleting these messages rather than marking them as spam reduce the possibility of false positives?

How reliable do you find Gmail's spam filtering? Do i need to check the spam folder before I (or Gmail) empty it? It seems quite good to me - I've been using it since february, and it's been months since any real mail got filtered as spam, and relatively few spam get through. But checking is getting tiresome. what is your experience? Judy

In the last couple of weeks Gmail's normally-astute spam filtering has totally given up the ghost in one specific area: stock spam. It seems like every single stock spam slips past the filter and ends up in my inbox. At the moment every other time I get a new email it comes with a subject like "Leading auth0rity On l0w priced st0cks". Anyone else having the same issue? Has Gmail's spam filter started to show cracks?
