I'm looking for good Filipino movies (in Tagalog, with English subtitles) that are not cheesy soap operas. Bonus points if available through Netflix. I'm of Filipino descent, and would like to explore the better side of Filipino cinema. So far, the only Filipino movies I've seen are corny romance stories, with the exception of Kidlat Tahimik's Turumba. Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance:-)

Spicy Squid Bits? YUM?

Filipino food filter: What do I do with my Spicy Squid Bits? Bought two cans of Saba Sisig Spicy Squid Bits (last item on page). What can I do with them? I understand what Sisig means, basically, it's like chopped fatty innards, kinda like chitterlings, and usually not squid-based. What do you eat sisig, especially of a squid variety, accompanied with? How do you prepare it? Recipes please! Salamat!

Why are people from the Philippines referred to as Filipinos rather than Philippinos?

Why are people from the Philippines referred to as Filipinos rather than Philippinos? None of my Filipino friends have ever been able to explain this to me... just curious if there is a particular reason for the shift from "Ph" to "F" in the description of nationality.

I’m an F.O.B. in LA.

What's a n00b to do in LA and Sacramento? Spending less than two weeks on the West Coast and I want to make it count. I’m flying for the first time to the US, will be attending to some company business in LA and Sacramento. I have a few questions:

What’s a newbie to see in LA, if pressed for time? Better yet, if pressed for time and without a car? I’m interested in books, mainly. I also want to buy this for my wife, whose birthday I will be missing because of this trip.

Once I’m in Sacramento, I expect the schedule to relax a bit. I’d like to see friends in Daly City and San Francisco. How can I get around? What are my travel options?

What cheap-but-cool stuff can I buy in LA or Sacramento, as presents for my friends back home?

Good Filipino restaurant in Seattle?

Where's a good place to get Filipino food in Seattle? I'm a half-filipino guy living in Austin. I never get to have any Filipino cuisine, like ever. I am visiting Seattle in a couple of weeks. I am looking for a place that serves good Filipino food. I've had weird half-ass Filipino food before (think Tex-Mex when you wanted Mexican) and it left me in a foul mood. Where should I go while I'm there?

Filipino Food Filter: To pick up a really cute filipina girl, I said I knew the best place for the taste of adobo in Los Angeles...which I was totally making up at the time. It worked. I have the date. Now I need the restaurant. Does anyone know a really good Filipino restaurant in LA or the Valley?
