I was just working on a proofreading file for hours. I closed it, thinking I had been saving it (I'm pretty sure I was saving it!). Then I went to email it , and it's nowhere to be found on my computer. I searched for it. I thought that if you don't save something it will be recovered when you open Word again, but nope. And I can't find it on my computer anywhere. Does anywhere have an idea where it could have gone and how/if I can get it back?!
Thanks!

How can I set up a Windows 7 PC to be clean and stay clean? I don't want file bits and temporary files to clog it up, I don't want a million image files the size of a dot. I don't want this computer to run like molasses after a few years of web browsing and use. What is the best way to do that?

What are ZIDX files? I bought a new computer about two weeks ago, and today I discovered about 175 files with a .zidx extension, contained within a ZIDX folder, that I cannot figure out.

I often save files to three locations, for example two folders on the desktop and one on the USB. Is there any way of saving files to two or more locations on my computer at once - I'm tired of the extra time this takes!

Hello:
After several years, I am finally upgrading and purchasing a new computer. My dilemma is moving files onto this new computer. My operating system on both computers is Windows XP.
1. I need advice moving my Thunderbird Email and Email folders onto this new computer. I understand that emails are really embedded and can be a problem. I also need assistance moving my FIREFOX bookmarks. I would really hate to loose those bookmarks!
2. I then plan to copy all my document files onto a CD using Nero and then recopying to the new computer.
3. I plan to go through the arduous task of reinstalling all my programs. That is my plan; however, I want to insure I am not overlooking a vital task!
I really do need assistance moving my email and bookmark files.
If I have missed anything, please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Recently, Acrobat has stopped opening pdf's in my firefox browser. It works fine in internet explorer, but I'd rather stay away from that particular program. I've tried reinstalling, updating, changing preferences and more. Anybody else experiencing this?

I've overfilled my laptop and want to move files to external drives. But moving keeps getting stopped for various reasons (and what the hell is a cyclic redundancy??) and I'm going nuts. Please send me your speed tips and procedure suggestions! The specifics: Toshiba satellite running windows xp; total c drive size 55.8gb, free space 12.6. External drives: f (in fat 32 which I'd like to reformat to ntfs) has a capacity of 152gb, and has only 66.1 free. Newest drive g (i've just formatted it to ntfs) has a capacity of 111gb, with 103 left after my abortive attempts to put an image disc of c on it. Thanks ...
