Broken heart / long story filter. My best friend and my love interest got together, though they both knew of my feelings. My friend wants my forgiveness, but I'm still pissed. She was my confidante and I trusted her. Now I don't think I can trust her again, and I have fantasies about her getting her heart broken. How can I move on from this? Should I let them back in my life? [more inside]

So my buddy and I watched that old Keanu Reeves film Point Break the other night, and we got to talking. We're thinking that more air pressure causes you to bleed at a more furious pace. So if someone's in a knife fight in a plane, is cut, say across the arm, then jumps out of the airplane to parachute to the ground - will they bleed to death before they hit the ground because the air pressure is causing them to bleed so quickly? It doesn't have to be skydiving, it could be on like, Everest. Will you bleed crazy fast higher up? I know that there are a lot of variables here, but I'm just curious if the thinking is sound.

Another-Introducing-A-New-Cat-Filter. I know this has been asked many times before, but I have a wrinkle in introducing my sweet cat to my husband's cats....3 dogs. I have one dog and a young cat, Tillie (F). My husband has 2 dogs and two older cats, Nick (M) and Mona (F). We recently merged households. The dogs and cats all get along fine when my cat and his cats are separated. Now we are trying to integrate my cat into the mix. [more inside]

CatFilter. I adopted a 1.5-year-old female cat, and carefully introduced her to my 8-year-old male cat. It's been a month and they're still fighting more than I'd like. How long does this usually take, and any advice on how to help them get along better? [more inside]

RoommateConflictFilter: I'm a guy in my mid-20s living in a bachelor pad with two other similarly-aged guys. The two roommates have had a huge falling out (over a girl, naturally) on month two of a twelve-month lease, and after days of constantly talking about it, it seems like the only solution is for one of them to move out. The only thing that we've agreed on is that I'm not going anywhere. So now what? We're all on the lease, and I want to make sure that nobody gets burnt any worse than has already happened. I am looking for a quote that I heard or read recently, something along the lines of "It is pointless to struggle against overwhelming injustice; it is worse not to struggle against it" or "You ask how it is that I can expend effort fighting against an unchangeable, unjust system? I ask how it is that you can live with not doing so." I'm looking for the exact quote, and the book or essay or what-have-you in which it originally appeared that I can read for some context. Where can I go to let my rage out by really trying to hurt people, but safely for me and for them? Ideally, this would be like a self-defense scenario, with two or more padded and armored attackers I can go all out against, but who are willing to accommodate my individual scenario over just an hour or two. Difficulty: I am a big guy with martial arts experience. [more inside]

Man I am a dumbass. I have a wonderful new boyfriend of about 6 months - who I absolutely truly adore - on the heels of surviving a really crappy five year marriage and divorce last year. Long story short, we were out over the weekend, drank a LOT, and he gave some (nice actually) girl that we were talking to a hug, told her that she felt "little and cute." I think the girl hugged me too. There was NOTHING lascivious there, he's just like that. Very warm person. Out of nowhere, I got very emotional. Told him that it upset me and we went 'round, tears and all. I am crazy about this guy, and really not a jealous person, this was deep, drunken, and came out of what seemed like nowhere from a dark place inside . We're cool, a little strained, it's weird things have been absolutley perfect up until this point, but no talk about putting the breaks on. I need help with two things one- how can I stop beating myself up over this and two-where in the hell did this jealousy come from? I really really like this guy...and we're cool, just mentally doing the equivalent of slapping my head with a shoe...I do not want to be a jealous person...
