March 2013 edition ! A non-profit that I volunteer with is looking to buy a new all-in-one machine to do its printing, scanning, copying, and faxing for its office. Non-profit uses windows. Initial budget is $300-500.
Other pluses:
Dual-sided printing
Most of the printing will be in b&w but will occasionally need to print in color (not for photos but for small logos on flyers, etc).
What should I recommend to them ? Laser ? Inkjet, no right ? They'd rather not since space is at a premium there.

I'm voting absentee (first time). I sent the ballot last Monday and it left Oslo last Wednesday. According to my district website, it hasn't been received. If it's not in by say 5 pm their time (11 pm mine), do I fax my ballot using one the services listed here
on lifehacker? Do I need to call or email someone first to let them know what I'm doing?

Should I send a cover letter with this faxed hard copy job application that's due today, and if so, where can I find good, quick instructions on how to do so? The special details -- I originally filled out an application through an online system but it was inactivated as of two days ago. Online system didn't require resume or cover letter, and the application is very structured in what it asks for. Do I try to save HR & myself some time by skipping a cover letter, or do I make the extra effort to type something out in the next hour?

I need a new all-in-one machine that is PC and Mac compatible, good for networking, can handle faxes with multiple ring, copier, flatbed scanner, multiple cartridges of paper, ink doesn't cost a million dollars, and is really sturdy. I'm willing to spend up to $500 but I want it to be good quality. Personal recommendations?

I'm wondering if this is even possible... my client wants to be able add the ability to select from the list of available printers; a remote fax machine. The original file will be quickbooks invoices. All my searches turn up what seem to be really old 'almost' solutions.

I installed software that came with a Brother MFC-9840CDW all-in-one and now my dell computer is having multiple problems at startup. The application itself failed to start citing missing registry data. Then, on restarting I get "Services.exe - Application Error" and clicking either OK or cancel causes an automatic shutdown timer to start.

I am trying to use "Windows Fax and Scan" (Vista Ultimate) to send and receive faxes. I have a fax modem that checks out fine. However, "Windows Fax and Scan" hangs when I try to use the Setup Wizard. It cannot locate the fax modem (even though the modem is listed under the Device Manager). I am using McAfee Security and have allowed the program to run.

Just returned from fabulous 2 week holiday in New York. I Brought back Epson Artisan 800 All-in-One Printer from Staples costing $230. Unfortunately, I cannot use it in U.K., unless I plug voltage converter/transformer products. Has anyone else bought this set over there with more success?
Any advice \ information appreciated.
Please specify me What exact voltage converter product to buy & where to buy it from USA online store. Thanks.

Looking for a new fax server. My company has a linux based fax server (Hilafax) that receives commands via php from our CRM that programs a URL into a standard web browser on our client machines containing the location of the document to fax and the fax number. We have over 100 stations and do a large amount of faxing. The Linux fax program is very unreliable.

When I was a kid, I found a bizarre pen at my grandmother's house. It was a marker with a roller on the tip and it created a dot pattern similar to zip-a-tone when you wrote with it. The ink was a dull purple, like Spider-Man's webbing in a comic book. She called it a "fax highlighter," but I've never been able to find such a thing in office supply stores or on the internet. It sure would be cool to have one for shading and creating a unique look in quick sketches. Help?

I am looking for a unified messaging service that would ideally provide fax (receive/send), voicemail, file storage, maybe email, ssl would be a big bonus. I've looked at several fax services, but they don't provide voicemail. I know there are many of these services available, but positive experiences and recommendations from Mefites would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance. BTW, $20 or under would be perfect.

Why am I having such difficulty sending a fax via my Mac OS X computer? There is well-advertised built-in fax functionality via CMD-P. I can receive faxes just fine in this fashion, but cannot successfully send. Could it be because my 'phone' line is actually VOIP (Vonage)? Must be overlooking the obvious here.
