Find me inspiring books!

I'm trying to expand my reference library. What are your favorite inspiring books (the kinds with photos/artwork in them?) Basically, I'm looking for any books that have good reference material in them-- not so much the text (though I like reading), but ones that show interesting images to use to inspire me when I can't think of what to draw. (National Geographic came in handy for this as a kid) I don't get to travel a lot but I love to peruse books, so I thought why not find some good sources?

Books with old advertisements, design, patterns, motifs and artwork from indigenous worlds, sci-fi, photos of houses and environments, costume design, books about nature and animals, space, historical photos, underwater photography, the topic doesn't matter specifically, just whatever you have or would recommend I'm super-curious to find out about. Coffee-table books, old books, whatever!

As an example, I have books like these:
Manuel Manilla
The Golden Age of Advertising-the 60's

and am thinking about getting these:
Chasing Rickshaws (I found this in a library and it was great!)
Little House on a Small Planet

Thanks hivemind!

Who serves Cleveland's favorite breakfast?

What's the best breakfast place in Cleveland, the one-of-a-kind place I shouldn't miss? I'm in Cleveland tonight and don't have anything to do until Wednesday afternoon. I've got a car and I'm staying near the airport, and my gig at 12:30 is in Parma, so I could really go anywhere in town. What's the best breakfast in Cleveland, the place the locals wait hours for on weekends? Bonus points for unique dishes or places with old school charm.

how to favorite podcasts and music in iTunes?

can you favorite podcasts and albums in iTunes without downloading or buying them? I am an avid podcast listener - I have just recently discovered iTunes, and am overwhelmed in a good way! However, I would like to find a way to favorite specific podcasts without necessarily downloading them or subscribing to them. Is there a way to do that within iTunes? So I am not talking about copying and pasting the information into a separate file, but something more flawless within the program itself.

What was your favorite course in college? I have a few electives over the next couple of semesters and I would love to fill them with some great classes. I'm looking for classes that you couldn't get enough of or classes that now, five years later, you wish you had taken.

Answers don't necessarily have to be specific classes; they can be a type of class such as computer, math, english, music, religion, foreign language, etc.
What's your favorite video projector? 2 questions:

1)
Who are the gold standard companies with portable video projectors?

2)
Which specific projector do you recommend with the following needs (needed in the following order):
1) Less than $1100
2) color accurate (I will use it to display art)
3) Super bright (will be used in a gallery with windows)
4) reasonably portable (smaller is better, but doesn't have to be the smallest ever)

Favorite Messiah recording

One of my favorite pieces of Music is Handel's Messiah. I have tried a number of versions and so far my favorite is the Sir Colin Davis recording with the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra. What other similar recordings would you recommend? I like the balance, clarity, drama and the even but unselfconscious interpretation of this version, but the soloists are perhaps not quite as top notch as they could be. Any ideas about another Messiah with a similar style but higher quality?

Phillyfilter: What's the best breakfast place in the city center? I've got some time in the morning before my presentation at the central library. I'd love to have an awesome breakfast at the kind of place that locals line up for on weekends. I'm staying right near the library, so someplace nearby would be great but something near the subway would be good too. Diners, breakfast only places, or even higher-end is all good. This is my only chance to have a cool local meal this trip. Any ideas?

What's your favorite waltz?

What's your favorite waltz? Bonus points for being easy to dance to and for finding me a "country waltz." I'm getting married next month, and we've hit upon the brilliant idea of dancing a waltz as our first dance. Now, of course, we need something to dance to (and also to learn to waltz, but I'm afraid even the great AskMe won't be much help with that), and so I'm turning to you all-- what's your favorite waltz? Is it easy to dance to? Classical selections much appreciated, but I've also got it in my head to find some kind of traditional "country" waltz, with fiddles and such-- though I have no idea if such a thing really even exists, much less who the artist would be, or what the song might be called. Any help much appreciated...

What's the best online bookmark managing tool?

What's the best online bookmark managing tool?

Importance placed on being able to access them from any computer and an interface/usability similar to bookmarks native in firefox? I like how Firefox manages my bookmarks. It's quick, always there, easy to search, can be added to in a flash, and sits in the sidebar always in the order that I added them and am used to using them.

However, I'm tired of only having access to those links while sitting at home. What I'm looking for is an online bookmark manager that
- will sit in my Firefox sidebar,
- look/act just like the native bookmarks on my own computer,
- is easy and extremely quick/painless to add a bookmark to (and remove one if i want)
- is accessible from public terminals (and not only through Firefox)

less, but still important
- doesn't require me to log-in for each use
- has the option of keeping bookmarks private (yes, I realize these two clash a bit)

I've tried del.icio.us, and I like it, but I can't find a Firefox extension I like/that works the way I want to bring del.icio.us to my sidebar. I've tried pluck, but it reordered by bookmarks when I uploaded them and does not make it super smooth to add a new bookmark. I've tried Yahoo! My Bookmarks, but it is way to cumbersome to manage them (reorder, delete, etc). I've looked at the Firefox extension Foxmarks, but it doesn't appear to let me view my bookmarks from IE, or a public terminal.

So which service do you suggest, and why? Or, are my priorities wrong, do they emphasize the wrong things, and should I change what I expect from my bookmarks?

...what's next?

What are Philip K. Dick's best works?

To all Philip K. Dick fans: Dick seems to have published a formidable amount of work, and rather than trying to read all of his novels/short stories, I'm wondering if any MeFites are familiar with his books and could recommend his best 5 or so. I recently read Dr. Bloodmoney, and while I highly enjoyed the premise, I believe on the whole, there were as many -if not more- flaws as there were strong points. I'd really like to be able to experience Dick's best works without having to wade through the "mixed-bag" material. While I do enjoy reading a flawed novel from time to time, my books-to-read list is already quite lengthy, and I'm trying to get to the meat-and-potatoes of all of the greats that I can. So can anybody here suggest 4 or 5 of their favorite Dick books?

Where is this movie quote about Superman from?

Scene rattling around in my head I can't place... I saw/read/heard a movie/tv show/rock video/sand painting/book/story/radio show/erotic poem wherein someone, a bad guy I think, is talking about super heros, and he says Superman is his favourite... [something inside, could it be "more", yes, it could very well be] ...because while other super heros really are they're mundane selves (eg, Peter Parker), and put on a disguise to become super (Spider-Man), Superman really is Superman, and his disguise is Clark Kent. And Clark Kent is how Superman, an alien, sees us.

Where's it from? Please help!

IE Favorites

Why do IE favicons stop appearing? I'll bookmark a site, and for a while it will have its nifty little favicon next to it in the Favorites menu of the browser, then POOF!, it's gone. (Please don't bother with answers like "Switch to Mozilla" or "Microsoft sucks!", I'm curious to know why this happens, I'm not soliciting opinions)
