	<title>Firefox being weird: Two favicons in my Bookmarks Toolbar keeps changing. . .</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/117678/Firefox%2Dbeing%2Dweird%2DTwo%2Dfavicons%2Din%2Dmy%2DBookmarks%2DToolbar%2Dkeeps%2Dchanging</link>
	<description>Firefox being weird: Two favicons in my Bookmarks Toolbar keeps changing. . . Recently upgraded to Firefox 3.0.7 from 2.0.11. Imported over bookmarks.html from Firefox 2. Now whenever I visit Google Reader or deviantART, those 2 favicons changes to a different looking version. When I close FF and open it back up again to visit those 2 sites, the favicons changes back again; so they keep switching upon each visit. This doesn&apos;t happen with any of the other favicons.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Reference: &lt;a href=&quot;http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/1882/favicons1.png&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Screenshot #1&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/a&gt; | &lt;a href=&quot;http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/7040/favicons2.png&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Screenshot #2&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
I&apos;ve tried deleting and re-bookmarking them again, same thing happens. Also tried deleting and re-importing bookmarks.html, doesn&apos;t help either.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Anyone run into this and have a fix? It seems like a small issue, but it annoys the hell out of me.</description>

	<title>The pesky Plesk favicon from hell won&apos;t leave me alone.</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/114937/The%2Dpesky%2DPlesk%2Dfavicon%2Dfrom%2Dhell%2Dwont%2Dleave%2Dme%2Dalone</link>
	<description>The pesky Plesk favicon from hell won&apos;t leave me alone. If you&apos;re using vista and IE, can you spare a moment? I&apos;ve recently started working on &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.poweracrosstexas.org/&quot;&gt;this website&lt;/a&gt;. If you&apos;re using vista and IE, can you take a peek and tell me what the favicon (tiny picture next to the URL in the address bar) looks like? &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
The organization that hired me originally bought the website from someone thats hosting it on a resellers account, and has installed plesk cp. When I first got control of the site, it was using a default drupal favicon. I&apos;ve overwritten all the favicon.ico&apos;s I can find. I&apos;ve even changed the head in the template to point to an absolute file path. Drupal dude icon is gone, but now it&apos;s been replaced by the red plesk sunburst favixon in Visa with IE7. &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
XP with IE7, firefox, safari, and ubuntu browser all show the correct blue star favicon. Of course my boss is using Vista and IE7, and I need to keep her happy. I understand that Vista stores favicons in a low integrity cache which leads to much headaches. Is there some trick to getting around this? &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
(and yes it&apos;s a properly encoded ico) &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Thanks.</description>

	<title>Disable favicon animation?</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/86991/Disable%2Dfavicon%2Danimation</link>
	<description>How can I disable favicon animation in Firefox 3? In Firefox 3 Beta 3, Windows version, is there a way to disable favicon animation on the bookmarks toolbar without turning off favicons entirely?  (Or, is there a way to permanently delete or replace a favicon?)&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Things I&apos;ve tried already:&lt;br&gt;
1. Setting image.animation_mode to &quot;none&quot;.  This stops images in websites from animating, but doesn&apos;t affect the bookmarks toolbar.&lt;br&gt;
2. &lt;a href=&quot;https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3176&quot;&gt;This extension&lt;/a&gt; for replacing bookmark icons.  It doesn&apos;t seem to work on Firefox 3 (nothing gets added to the bookmark manager, and its Options dialog doesn&apos;t work).&lt;br&gt;
3. Removing the offending icon data from bookmarks.html (while Firefox is not running).  The icon doesn&apos;t go away.  (I guess there must be another cache somewhere?)&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
I like having BugMeNot readily available, but that goddamn &quot;no&quot; sign better stop spinning around, or he&apos;s out the door...&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
P.S. Possible substitute question: is there an alternative to BugMeNot that doesn&apos;t have a dancing icon?</description>

	<title>Favicons for xml/rss feeds</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/83568/Favicons%2Dfor%2Dxmlrss%2Dfeeds</link>
	<description>How do I attach a favicon to an rss (xml) feed, specifically from Blogger, although if you have more generic information I&apos;ll have a look at that too? No &lt;i&gt;more inside&lt;/i&gt; &#8211; that&apos;s the entire question.</description>

	<title>Is there a perfect OSX web browser out there for me?</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/37115/Is%2Dthere%2Da%2Dperfect%2DOSX%2Dweb%2Dbrowser%2Dout%2Dthere%2Dfor%2Dme</link>
	<description>I&apos;m trying to find a (stable) OSX web browser that...

A) allows you to select text and right-click to search for that text in Google,
AND
B) displays bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar as favicons (not just plain text buttons). Firefox and Safari seem to do A, Camino has B, Shiira does both but it&apos;s hella unstable on my Intel Mac mini.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Or alternately... is there a way to customise Safari, Firefox or Camino so that they do both? I&apos;ve searched high and low for relevant extensions with no success. &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Camino is close to perfect, but not being able to right-click and Google something thing is annoying. Or am I just in need of a good bookmarklet script that does this?</description>

	<title>How can the Firefox personal bookmarks toolbar be made to pick up favicons?</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/14623/How%2Dcan%2Dthe%2DFirefox%2Dpersonal%2Dbookmarks%2Dtoolbar%2Dbe%2Dmade%2Dto%2Dpick%2Dup%2Dfavicons</link>
	<description>&lt;strong&gt;Firefox and favicon.ico:&lt;/strong&gt; Why does the Firefox bookmark toolbar pick up the favicon.ico for some sites but not others? How can I make it pick up the favicon.ico for my site? [+] Here is a &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.organicmechanic.org/images/images/fav.jpg&quot;&gt;screencap&lt;/a&gt;. If you notice the address bar, the icon is picked up, but not on the toolbar. However, MeFi&apos;s appears in both spots. Initially, none of the links in the bookmark toolbar pick up the icon, but the first click after they&apos;ve been added typically picks them up. Why won&apos;t it do that for other sites with icons? I&apos;ve compared the sources of MeFi and others to my own, but can&apos;t find something that would make a difference. Please hope me.</description>

	<title>IE Favorites</title>
	<link>http://ask.metafilter.com/4505/IE%2DFavorites</link>
	<description>Why do IE favicons stop appearing? I&apos;ll bookmark a site, and for a while it will have its nifty little favicon next to it in the Favorites menu of the browser, then POOF!, it&apos;s gone. (Please don&apos;t bother with answers like &quot;Switch to Mozilla&quot; or &quot;Microsoft sucks!&quot;, I&apos;m curious to know &lt;u&gt;why&lt;/u&gt; this happens, I&apos;m not soliciting opinions)</description>
