Hi everyone. It gets a little chilly up here in the winter, and I like to layer up with a long-sleeve t-shirt. I'd like them to come up snugly right around the base of the neck (without being a turtleneck, obviously), but this has proven more difficult than you might think. [more inside]

how/where do i go about getting a dress with a man print like this one
? i'm at a loss as to even how to search for such a dress - as man print gives me either leopard print, or mad men dresses. i'm based in australia - but happy to buy o/s and i'm a large size - around a aus 14.
i'm fine with change - going without sleeves, finding a print option where i just get one made, finding a large man print fabric and getting a dress made - i'm just looking for how to go about getting one.

I just got a Bonobos lookbook in the mail, and thought, "wow, these people are absolutely dressed the most stylish way possible for the portrayed situations." But, those situations were: being a cabana boy; bird-watching; and going to the state fair. Most of the time I want to look good, it's to dress up for NYC nightlife with my girlfriend. Are there lookbooks geared toward that kind of dress?

I've been wearing glasses nearly my entire life, and own many pairs of prescription glasses. Since I wear glasses every day and have been doing so for so long, my various frames are as much fashion accessories as vision correction. But they pretty much just sit in hard-shell cases in my drawer, and I've been thinking that I'd like to have them displayed on my dresser in a way that lets me see all of them at once, like a jewelry display. Can you recommend a creative way to display my prescription glasses (currently 8 pairs in frequent rotation) on my dresser top? DIY and store-bought options both welcome. Complication: glasses are front-heavy, because I am extremely visually impaired, and will topple over if left open and set down themselves on a flat surface.

I recently lost a significant amount of weight and now the men's t-shirts I found most suitable and comfortable for my body type when I was severely overweight are now too big for me. I don't want to give them away because they're immensely soft, stretchy, and comfortable, have sentimental value, and they have edgy printings that are, from what I can tell, currently in style in the Women's department with the exception of the shape and fitting of the shirts.
I intend to start with shirts I don't want as practice. As I don't know how to sew (yet), can someone offer suggestions, supplies, and skills needed based on their own DIY experience?
I'm in dire need of fashion advice as well.
Isn't square neck, boat neck, scoop necks flattering on bigger breasts? Belts around the waist? Leggings? Bootcut jeans? Cardigans? Vests? How do you layer clothing? What goes good with what? I'm at a total loss for fashion after 20-something years of hiding my body in black baggy clothing. For the first time in my life I actually want to look like a woman. Please help.

in NYC has a tumblr
on which they post photos of some (most? all?) of the clients who come through the salon to get their hair cut, dyed, or styled. This seems like such an obviously great idea - not only has it taught me about lots of new hair trends
, it gives me a chance to see what these super creative styles
look like on real people. If I were ever in the market for a NYC haircut, I'd feel confident going to Seagull. But for some reason, I've had trouble finding other blogs like this: my results are clogged by hair salon websites and individually run blogs full of tutorials and photos of celebrities and such. Do you know of any other salons that do this? They don't have to be the same genre of hairstyle as Seagull; I just want to look at lots of un-retouched photos of other people's haircuts.

I have a reasonable handle on what's trendy and/or trending among those who follow music (as opposed to clothes), but I'm hoping that some fashion-industry mefites could help me out with what sort of music might be playing in July 2013 during runway shows, or in the studios of designers as they work, or through the headphones of people working in the most in-demand casting agencies... As the title states I've got a wedding in Charleston, SC in July. I'm planning on getting a blue seersucker jacket anyways, so I've been looking on how to put this all together. I've come up with two ensembles
that I think would work best.
The main differences between the two are the pants really...white pants vs blue. The shoes coordinate appropriately as white shoes/pants wouldn't really work. The shirt choices, white or pastel pink are negotiable, as is the bowtie vs regular tie. I'd likely pocket square it up as well. Opinions? I'm open to any other styles or ways to arrange it all.
If it bears any relevance my girlfriend will be wearing this

So I'm sure this doesn't really exist, but in case it does and I've missed it, is there anywhere I can find Anthropologie-esque clothing more in the neighborhood of Forever21 prices? I'm a size 4/6. It doesn't have to be quite as cheap as Forever21, but no $200 tops please! I'm quite gentle on clothing and I can sew basic repairs, so super well made isn't *terribly* important. If their clothing is good for tall women and/or uses natural fabrics, that's a super bonus! I already know about eshakti. Thanks metafilter!

Back in the heady days of my youth I used to wear a rather splendid afghan coat - you know, the typical hippy embroidered brown suede and fur affair, complete with disturbing aromas of patchouli and vague decay (although to be fair that may have been me rather than the coat). And now I'd love to find another one - preferable a full-length white version I can paint the cover of ELP's 'Tarkus' album on, but another brown one at a pinch. Any idea where I could get one, Mefites? Ebay and online searches only seem show women's coats and I'm a 6' chap (from Nottingham, in the UK)! Many thanks in advance!
