A couple of years ago I read about a book of contemporary men’s fashion from the 70’s. It is considered a classic by some and I believe fetches a fair price. It featured a lot of mixing of styles.
Any idea what this might be?

socks like these? Acquired by my husband over 10 years ago at an airport in the Netherlands, they are long-lasting, comfortable, made of wool, have the word "TRAIL" embroidered in red across the instep, three horizontal red stripes on the ball of the foot, and what may be a size "3-46" in red across the toe.

I have
this dress, and while it fits well at the waist and through my ribs and I've worn it before, it squishes my 30F chest in a way that does not look flattering at all. There is not enough extra fabric to let the dress out, and I can't buy a larger size. Whom in Seattle can I trust to do a
great job at converting the zippered back (all the way to my nape, with mesh fabric upper half) to a lace corset back? Any other ideas?

I love the aesthetic of the pictures that Bill Cunningham takes for the New York Times or that Scott Schuman takes for The Sartorialist. I often wish their pictures moved. I am interested in learning more about the idea of radical clothing as symbolic communication, and thinking about how that works today. Thus, I am looking for the most fantastic examples of communicative garments. For example, garments made from recycled materials, that might up, that are in unusual shapes, and so forth. I have found some of these already, but I don't really know what they mean--other than being novelties. Are there unusual garments that you think about a lot? What do you think they mean? What is the deal with undershirts? (ie wearing a white T-Shirt under your outer long-sleeve buttoned shirt). Watching Mad Men its always clear that Don Draper is wearing a white T-Shirt under his business shirt. Is is a USA thing? Here in the UK it seems less common.
