I've been slowly improving my wardrobe but somehow I'm feeling a kind of impostor syndrome--as though I'm just playing dress-up and look ridiculous. [more inside]

I'm considering coloring the ends of my dark blonde/brown hair a bright shade of blue or possibly green (or both?) But I'm worried about hair breakage - my hair is very fine - and maintenance. And is this look still in style? Please tell me your brightly colored hair secrets. Or do you have other hair advice? Help a bored, tired lady feel more stylish. Thanks! [more inside]
I am desperately in need of some glasses like the ones Paul Bettany is wearing in these photos. Can anyone tell me what brand they are or where to buy them please?
In today's era of chaotic jeans trends, exactly what styles and colors of jeans does a mid-30s US woman wear if she wishes to appear polished, classy, but also not desperately un-hip... ideally, for like the next 2-3 years? [more inside]
I need to start wearing more supportive shoes, but hate having many pairs and want something durable and versatile. I'm also pretty clueless about shoe style. Help me MeFashionistas! Snowflake details inside. [more inside]
Can I wear these? (If ONLY this was simply a white-after-Labor-Day question!) [more inside]
Around 1996 I bought a dress from a mall store (Express or similar). It was short-sleeved, ankle-length, comprised of two or more layers of sheer, silky, solid-colored pastel fabric, and the style was that you would knot or tie up the top layer to reveal some of the bottom layer underneath. I can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere online - can anyone find an image of one of these dresses?
I'm in the very early stages of researching and writing a knitting project guide. What books can you recommend on the topic of learning to dress well? I'm looking specifically for books that help people of either gender plan, and possibly even make, a functional, flattering, stylish wardrobe. I have asked a very similar question of AskMe before, but that was 10(!!!) years ago and so many more style guides have come out since then.
I'm wanting to look more put-together and stylish for work. I work in a government office, live in a moderately cool climate (daily maximums from 10 to 40 degrees C), am 32 and female. Please help me do better! [more inside]

So, I'm a mid-30s genderfluid person who would like to start dressing in a more masculine to androgynous manner in a business casual workplace. Complicating factors? I've got an aggressively female body, short with hips and boobs that can't really be minimized, plus I am a fattie (US size 20/22) and slowly shrinking). So what the hell do I do with that? Looking for websites and books for guidance and encouragement, not just techniques, in professional dress. I am entering a field where the top echelon of business casual seems to be the default setting. [more inside]
Things that feel great to wear...what are they? I value comfort immensely when it comes to clothing, but I also want to feel confident in what I'm wearing. I'm okay with suggestions for casual wear, but I have a much harder time finding comfortable clothing that's both stylish and dressy/professional. [more inside]
The style of blouse that the woman is wearing in this stock photo looks very flattering on me. I have one blouse like that, but I'd like to buy more. What search terms can I use to find them, or what stores should I check out?
It's embarrassing to admit to being a 33 year old woman who can't dress herself, but my frustration is outgrowing my embarrassment. I have pretty much nothing in my closet that I like to wear, and that I feel I look good in. I wear nearly the same thing every day: jeans, sneakers/tennis shoes, t-shirt or slightly fancier t-shirt, and one of several ratty hooded sweatshirts, each of which has a hole in the left elbow. I dress like slob. I do not feel this look suits me, and I want to change it, but don't know how. [more inside]
I've outgrown cheap, sparkly, skin-baring clothes from Express. A floor length ball gown would probably be overkill. What does a classy 27-year-old female wear on the weekends? [more inside]

I just got a Bonobos lookbook in the mail, and thought, "wow, these people are absolutely dressed the most stylish way possible for the portrayed situations." But, those situations were: being a cabana boy; bird-watching; and going to the state fair. Most of the time I want to look good, it's to dress up for NYC nightlife with my girlfriend. Are there lookbooks geared toward that kind of dress?
I'm looking for book recommendations for thorough, engaging, and rigorous histories of Savile Row tailoring and/or books that talk about the history and philosophy of fine men's tailoring and dress. I'm not averse to books with technical information, as well as historical and cultural information. Thank you!
I'm a queer girl who sometimes likes to dress like a boy. I would like suggestions for fashion blogs that focus on genderqueer/butch/trans fashion. I'm especially looking for style aesthetics other than the very popular "dapper" look. [more inside]

Seagull Salon in NYC has a tumblr on which they post photos of some (most? all?) of the clients who come through the salon to get their hair cut, dyed, or styled. This seems like such an obviously great idea - not only has it taught me about lots of new hair trends, it gives me a chance to see what these super creative styles look like on real people. If I were ever in the market for a NYC haircut, I'd feel confident going to Seagull. But for some reason, I've had trouble finding other blogs like this: my results are clogged by hair salon websites and individually run blogs full of tutorials and photos of celebrities and such. Do you know of any other salons that do this? They don't have to be the same genre of hairstyle as Seagull; I just want to look at lots of un-retouched photos of other people's haircuts.
I would like to start wearing scarves with my outfits, but I feel totally lost. Please share your advice on how to buy, wear, tie, and style scarves! Additional challenges: I'm short, big-busted, tomboyish, and I have long hair which I usually wear down. [more inside]
As the title states I've got a wedding in Charleston, SC in July. I'm planning on getting a blue seersucker jacket anyways, so I've been looking on how to put this all together. I've come up with two ensembles that I think would work best. The main differences between the two are the pants really...white pants vs blue. The shoes coordinate appropriately as white shoes/pants wouldn't really work. The shirt choices, white or pastel pink are negotiable, as is the bowtie vs regular tie. I'd likely pocket square it up as well. Opinions? I'm open to any other styles or ways to arrange it all. If it bears any relevance my girlfriend will be wearing this.
I own a Kawasaki ZX-6 that I have done some moderate cosmetic customization to, including removing most of the fairings, reshaping the remaining fairings, removing the windshield, replacing the coolant tank and passenger pegs, and stickering the gas tank. The result is a street-fightery look that I'm quite proud of. Now I'm looking to get some custom vinyl printed and use it to recover the seats. I need help choosing a pattern. [more inside]
