I want to replace my winter coat and have some very picky requirements. Here they are, with the most important ones first: [more inside]
I saw this leather jacket (and scarf, although a friend swears it's a sweater) on Tumblr but sadly the original poster didn't cite the source and doesn't have an ask box so I cannot ask him/her directly: [more inside]
I've got an unexpected day free in San Francisco tomorrow and I'd like to do some shopping. One thing I haven't been able to find back home in Sydney is a nice corduroy women's blazer. I had one years ago in a lovely dusty pink and I wore it til it fell apart. Anybody know if they're "in" this spring and where I can find one in the city? (Colour doesn't really matter.)
AcademicClothesFilter: MetaFilter, help me (20ish dude) find a store that sells awesome tweed or professorial-like sportscoats/jackets! I am a beginning academic who hates suits, but soon I will start to teach and go to conferences and will need to "look the part." Thus, I need to update my wardrobe with something thematically between "formal" and "wannabe hipster causal." The hitch is: I am sort-of built like a linebacker, with a very broad chest and very wide shoulders but with a not-quite-commensurately-large bottom torso, and thus sizing can often be an issue for me (i.e., getting more fabric "up top" in generic sizes ends up with billowing fabric down below). Is there any store that sells hot to trot professorial tweed that might fit someone with my body build? Or will I need to get a loose fit and then get it tailored? (Is that... what tailoring is?).
I get cold easily. I'd like to buy a new men's winter coat that doesn't look like anything special but is secretly lined with magic warmth nodules. I don't want to be the guy bundled up in a Michelan man snowsuit when everybody around me is wearing hoodies and windbreakers. Help me fit in, fashionably speaking, while still feeling like I'm perpetually cozied up by a roaring fire. [more inside]
I am a mid-20's female in search of the perfect coat/jacket for chilly spring and fall wear. Do you have one that you love? Requirements inside... [more inside]
What are good recommendations for semi-formal to formal winter coats? [more inside]
Just bought this jacket on a whim, and it looks great. At a bit of a loss as to what to match it with: any suggestions for shirt and tie pattern and colour combinations? I'm thinking of wearing it with skinny black jeans and my Doc Martens.
So how do Seal and the Olsen twins do it? I want a leather jacket from Carol Christian Poell. What now? [more inside]
Where can I find a men's linen jacket like this? [more inside]
I own two short-sleeve jackets that I love. How often can I wear them to work without people wondering why I keep wearing the same thing over and over again? Do my coworkers even notice my clothing or care what I look like? Even better, where can I buy cheaper (but not obviously cheap) jackets? [more inside]
Where can I find a somewhat casual, good quality blue blazer made of cotton, linen, or a cotton/linen blend? [more inside]
I'm wanting to buy a (mens') leather jacket for the first time. What advice can you offer me? Bonus points if you can recommend a particular brand, or a store in NYC. [more inside]
I want to find a cool winter jacket or coat - sorta like the Buzz Rickson "Pattern Recognition" jacket. Fashion details inside. [more inside]
Sexy Suits: This weekend I saw a woman wearing a blazer with a double-hem at the bottom, kind of like this one. It wasn't that one though - it was sharper, nicer fabric, not as round, with stronger diagonal line from the hip downwards. I so need one of these jackets! [more inside]
