I remember that there used to be a website, where a guy asked what he should wear, and the community voted on his outfit - and he actually put it on. Every day. But, dang, I don't remember what the site was called and what URL it used. Can you help out?

Zebedee has 75 FUCKING BUTTON-DOWN SHIRTS... He gets a lot of them for free from his employers, but this is out of control. I told him that it isn't normal. We both want to know what is normal. What is the average number of articles of clothing owned by adult males in western society? T-shirts, button-down shirts, trousers, underwear and so on. Citations from studies or surveys would be best.

I usually try to buy clothes made in first world country, by looking at the label (Milan, London, made in LA). I always assumed that the Western world had minimum wages, and other progressive standards that say, made in China didn't. I use this to justify the high cost of the goods, but my father informs that this is untrue and the expensive hand labor of ripping the jeans, sanding, etc. are done in places such as LA -- but are sweatshop conditions (by employing illegals, ignoring labor laws, etc.). Is this true? [more inside]

Men's fashion: can I wear a button-down collar shirt with a suit and tie? Or does that offend some unwritten rule of style? I've gotten conflicting reports.

I'm at the point in my career where I'll need to buy more business attire. I've had a little trouble buying off the rack stuff that fits well, due to my build (athletic, but stocky, rather thick-necked. 10 years of rugby will do that). So I'm curious about tailored clothes What can I expect? In what price range should I expect to pay? Are there some things that just aren't worth seeing a tailor for?

I have narrow ankles and fairly "large" feet (I have to wear size 10 shoes in order to have a comfortable fit). But because of my narrow ankles, I am having a hard time finding shoes that fit. I have tried thicker socks, a couple of different lacing techniques etc but nothing seems to help. My heels always move inside the shoes! Please help me!!!

Looking at this thread about fitted shirts, I figured I'd ask about my men's dress shirt predicament. I'm 6'5", have a 14.5" neck, 36" arms and a 37" waist. If you've ever shopped, well, anywhere for men's shirts, you'll know that such a size doesn't exist. My neck seems to throw everything off.

I've tried the Lands' End and JC Penney online custom shirt services and the shirts have come out very wrong -- they don't seem to rely on real measurements, just generalities about one's build which don't take my quirks into account, and I get the feeling they're just sewing long arms onto a small-necked shirt (which doesn't fit well around my torso). I've gone in for a few custom tailoring quotes and, well, I really don't want to have to pay $500 for a small set of shirts that I won't wear every day. Anyone else solve this one?

My fiancee is looking into the possibility of selling clothes with custom art/text/etc. She knows about CafePress and such, but is looking for a way to get text/images on black and dark clothes. Shirts, hoodies, pants, etc.

There's always the 'custom-shirts-for-10-dollars' places, but she doesn't want to sell anything that's going to fade in a month, or is otherwise of questionable quality. Have any of you had good experiences with online companies that provide custom printing services? Would it be a good idea to look into purchasing a silkscreen machine?

Well never thought I'd ask metafilter about this, but does anyone else have trouble finding pant sizes that fit? I'm a 30 waist which apparently is so skinny no stores carry it. Actually I can find stores that carry 30 inches but they don't fit, and when I measure they're always 1-2 inches larger. Which is a lot. It's as if stores have forgo a standard measurement sizes in favor of letting people fit into "smaller" sizes. My question is what to do?

I'm looking for a pair of jeans I saw someone wearing on the street today. I think I saw the same pair on Gwyneth Paltrow in People recently. They're women's jeans, low-rise, dark-ish, expensive looking, (hot!). They have a horizontal seam across the knee and snaps the size of nickels down the outside of the pant leg from knee to ankle. I've called several department stores and looked online, but I just can't seem to find them again. Help?
