I am a lady who has recently gotten into dressing more feminine. But I am also a lady who has just moved to the Midwest, and it is winter here now. How should I be dressing? [more inside]
In November I moved from Houston to Amsterdam. I was okay in the beginning, but now I feel like winter is *really* setting in and I need some new clothes. [more inside]
I've decided to go for the "blazer, nice tee shirt, and jeans" look for work. Female. Where shall I shop online for blazers? Snowflakes inside. [more inside]

I really like the sweater Aaron Rodgers was wearing in his press conference after the Packers game last night. Can anyone help me figure out where I can buy one exactly like it?
Where can I find more visual glossaries of international fashion subcultures, particularly the ones that are lesser-known or more specific? They'll have photos or video of the style, some background on what the style is about and where it's from, and some description of key elements. Some examples of what I'm after are Refinery29's Style out There playlist, this guide to Japanese fashion, and this list of men's fashion.
I'm turning 30 soon. I don't want to look ridiculous, but I don't want to give up my bright colors and girly style either. Help! [more inside]
I'm considering coloring the ends of my dark blonde/brown hair a bright shade of blue or possibly green (or both?) But I'm worried about hair breakage - my hair is very fine - and maintenance. And is this look still in style? Please tell me your brightly colored hair secrets. Or do you have other hair advice? Help a bored, tired lady feel more stylish. Thanks! [more inside]

This previous question could almost be me--except that I'm much larger. I need to find a wedding outfit for a December wedding in Vegas, and I'm profoundly uncomfortable in dresses. Can you help me find sources for dressy straight-butch-ish clothes, in maybe a 26/28 size pant and a top size that ranges from 28 into the 30s? [more inside]
I've recently started working in a new office where everybody dresses quite well. Prior to this, I was in full-time student mode, so I never cared about what I wore. I want to start looking more put-together. It shouldn't be this difficult to buy about 5-6 basics to update my office wardrobe, but I am SO. PARALYZED. at the idea of having to spend money on more than 1-2 items at a time. I waste hours and hours looking at clothes online and never buy a single item. This needs to stop. [more inside]
The advice "The generally accepted rule is pink for the boys, and blue for the girls" can be found quoted many, many places online (all clearly originating from one ur-source), attributed either to the Ladies Home Journal in 1918 or Earnshaw's Infants Department (invariably identified as "a trade publication"). Which was it? Was it, in fact, either? [more inside]
I'm attending my sister-in-law's wedding next month and we finally got confirmation that the ceremony/reception dress code will be "cocktail". I'm a woman who is tired of buying dresses I hate wearing and feeling uncomfortable at these sorts of things, so what can I wear that's appropriate but also me? [more inside]
I'm going out tonight and bought something to wear which I'm now totally unsure about and I only have a few hours to panic-buy a replacement if it's unsuitable. So fashion mavens of MeFi - should I wear this or, as always, am I All Wrong? [more inside]
Thanks to a much-needed medication, I've just gone from super skinny to not-so-skinny in a very short amount of time. I am having trouble dressing my "new self." Also would like any advice on coping with body image difficulty. TW: weight gain and body image issues and detail. [more inside]

I need to start dressing more professionally, but I'm terrible at it and the sort of person who would happily wear t-shirts and shorts or jogging pants all the time if it were acceptable. How can I get better at this? [more inside]

I'm looking for a pair of sleek, fashionable women's shoes that I can have reshod when necessary so that I don't have to mourn the loss of another pair of favorites. I generally wear ballet flats, and am searching for a pair in red or black that are >$300. [more inside]
I love vintage/pin-up styles, and 1950s style fashion is what suits my body type. Great. I am going through a stage of convincing myself I want to keep my long hair rather than cutting it all off by trying to style it more and incorporate pin-up and vintage hairstyles to go with the fashion. [more inside]
Can you recommend some clean-lined, fashionable women's shoes or shoe brands for a business casual environment? [more inside]
Please keep in mind that I don't mean random novelty items like the ones in ThinkGeek or any shop in Etsy, but websites that provide quality stuff in any of the following categories: home/decor/kitchen, stationery, clothes, accessories, beauty/skincare. [more inside]
I'm staying in Milan until Tuesday evening, and I'd like to pick up something for a close friend's birthday while I'm here. I can't spend a huge amount of money (maybe $100-$150 max), but I'd love to get her something unique from Milan. She's kind of a fashionista, and she tends to have an Anthropologie-esque style. I'd be looking for something like a blouse, dress, unique accessory, or personal product. Where should I go? Any specific suggestions and/or products you can recommend? Thanks!
Young professional woman seeking pants that fit. Caveats and such below the fold. [more inside]
I've been looking for a winter cape FOREVER and when I saw the Joanna Newsom video this morning I got super excited. Anyone know where I can find it or something similar. Yes, I'm definitely interested in similar items too! [more inside]
Around 1996 I bought a dress from a mall store (Express or similar). It was short-sleeved, ankle-length, comprised of two or more layers of sheer, silky, solid-colored pastel fabric, and the style was that you would knot or tie up the top layer to reveal some of the bottom layer underneath. I can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere online - can anyone find an image of one of these dresses?
I've been into fashion for awhile, but I have yet to really learn much about makeup outside of bb cream, bold lips, and cateye eyeliner. I want to develop a more versatile daytime look for my (soft autumn) coloring/look. (Blonde hair, hazel eyes, warm + fair skintone.) [more inside]
I like cheap tshirts. When they get ruined during lab work (tiny holes seem unavoidable!) Or playing with my toddler, I am not sad. But my standard cheap tshirt haunts (Target/Khols) have predominantly see through cute tshirts. Why are basic v neck shirts see through now??? Any tips on stores/brands where one can still find a basic tshirt that doesn't reveal bra color?
I'm looking for a pair of shoes/boots that will effectively function in as many different environments as possible: walking, hiking, sun and rain, dressing up for more formal occasions. (I'm a traveler and I only have room for a single pair of shoes in my life.) Comfort is a huge priority; I want them to feel as cozy as house slippers. Waterproofing would be a welcome bonus but not essential. [more inside]
I need to build a small set of work clothes that I can combine and re-combine. Unfortunately, since this is retail sales(with attendant conservative clothing policies) , there are some severe constraints in place. Feeling creative? [more inside]
I have this beautiful polka dot swing dress with a very full skirt, and it's probably my favorite dress. The problem is, the fabric's texture causes the skirt to stick together and bunch up when walking. [more inside]
I need men's shoes that are both great for all-day walking and look stylish. [more inside]
I'm in the very early stages of researching and writing a knitting project guide. What books can you recommend on the topic of learning to dress well? I'm looking specifically for books that help people of either gender plan, and possibly even make, a functional, flattering, stylish wardrobe. I have asked a very similar question of AskMe before, but that was 10(!!!) years ago and so many more style guides have come out since then.
I need a crossbody, leather, slim bag which can contain a 13-inch Macbook Air, a cellphone, a woman's wallet, and hopefully a paperback book or something of equivalent size -- and this object needs to be sleek, femme, and suitable to be worn with a fluttery gauze dress or the local equivalent. It'd be nice if it was red, but that's not required. Where is my bag? [more inside]

I've read many of the previous questions on this topic, but none seem to be looking for exactly what I am: stylish, professional, closed-toe flats with a pointed toe that I can walk in for miles without getting heel blisters. More obnoxiously specific criteria inside. [more inside]
