Say I choose to live my life as a (superficially) middle-class educated man from the late 1920's USA, but, you know, with internet and healthcare. In my distaste for brands I tend to remove tags from my clothing, but in one case this has backfired - I found a brand of jeans which fit me perfectly. Sans tag, all I have to go on is the imprint on the buttons. It's a shield with a pointed demon tail (tangential ask: what is that pointy thing called and where does it come from?). Can you ID my jeans? Here is a photo.

I'm in the market for this
new watch. I toured the Shinola factory over two years ago and I was really enamored with the whole thing. So this is not an impulse purchase. I've been thinking about this for awhile. My apprehension is: I am aware that Shinola is owned by Fossil and many people think the 'Detroit Made' marketing is all hype. This very well may be true, but I couldn't help but be personally touched by the whole experience when I visited the factory.
That said, I don't know much about watches and want to make sure I'm really getting a quality look and price/value here. Plus, I haven't found many reviews (at all) about Shinola online. If you'd recommend NOT buying this watch, I'd appreciate if you could recommend an alternative.
What I'm looking for is a basic white, round face with date, larger face, with a leather strap. I'm 30 work in mid-management in a casual office so an everyday, slightly dressed watch in < $600 price range is the target.
Oh and please do not say, Apple Watch.

I know I could just ask y'all (and I might), but-- is there some sort of fashion-oriented online community where people are hip and helpful, where I could post the relevant information about myself (build, taste, lifestyle, climate) and say "build me a minimal wardrobe for the fall?" And then they would have fun putting together a handful of links for me, and I could get dressed and look sharp and not have to think about it? [more inside]

I was talking with one of my friends and they brought up that they saw my wearing of miniskirts as inappropriate. I've never considered this, having considered my ability to dress how I want as a part of my liberation from conservative past and binary gendering of clothing. I wear mostly women's clothing simply because they feel comfortable and I have a phenomenal set of dance legs which I enjoy showing off in a myriad of fashions. Am I missing something? Thanks!

ClothingFilter: Where on Earth do men with "athletic builds" (big shoulders/chest; smaller waist relative to other proportions) reliably shop for fashionable, casual
upper-body clothing? What style blogs and resources exist for dudes like myself? I am pretty sick of having to try on a zillion things to little success at most stores or to rely exclusively on very large thrift stores for finding something by random chance ... and "Big and Tall" stores are usually much too big?! My mother-in-law is a prolific knitter, and I'd like to get her to knit me a pullover for winter. Trouble is, most home-made knitwear tends towards the baggy, which looks ridiculous on me - I wear a European size slim fit small for most tops. Is there anywhere online I can search for knitting patterns that won't look like a tent one me?

I need a birthday gift for a glamourous 35 year old daughter of a close friend. Not a book nor a gift voucher, nothing for kitchen or home, more like beauty or fashion oriented of which she has a lot but never mind, it's the thought that counts -right? Something I can wrap and hand to them. She wears about a size 8.
Budget of around $50 or £30-£40. I am really stumped-please help and thank you. And I did search previous questions.

So two books I really love are Heaven to Betsy and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I love how they go into the details of the period they take place, particularly the fashion and food. It was also only recently I realised that they take place roughly around the same era. It really surprised me because they are so completely different to one another. Francie has an alcoholic father and the family can barely get food on the table; Betsy's biggest ordeal is falling in love with a boy that doesn't like her back and not studying for an essay contest. So my question is two-fold and is aimed at requesting book suggestions. [more inside]

Most of my clothes are business casual and I'd like to upgrade my wardrobe (on a reasonable budget) to dress sharp in a casual (jeans ok, shorts not) environment. I'm 30 in middle management so looking for something contemporary, but not cutting edge that would look sharp in a big, conservative Midwest company.
Can you point me to online resources to help find outfits that look good and are reasonably priced? Thanks in advance!

Whenever I shop for pants or shorts, almost everything I try on either has a tight waist and comfortable butt, or tight butt and too-loose waist. This applies across various brands.
I like to say that I'm little in the middle but I got much back, but my proportions aren't that strange. Skinny jeans don't fit me, but I'm not going for pleated dockers, either. I wear approximately a 30" waist and 28" inseam.
Guys, can you recommend any brands that solve this problem?

Do you know a nail polish that is fee of chemicals like formaldehyde, etc.?
I think they call it the 4 free or 5 free.........I tried the polish called "Butter" but it chipped right away.
I'm willing to even just have 2 or 3 free if I can have a polish that does not chip the next day. I'm just trying to find something with "less" chemicals than the normal polish.

Which clothing stores in NYC have good casual/business casual clothes for larger men? My boyfriend and I are going clothes shopping this coming Saturday to prepare for an upcoming trip. He has a suit, but other than that, all his clothes are jeans and tees. For this trip, we are looking for: casual button down shirts (oxfords or plaids), non-jeans/non-khaki trousers, a sport coat or blazer, and some shoes that fall in between the New Balance sneakers he usually wears and the nice black shoes he wears with his suit. Sizes and price range below the cut. [more inside]
