Does anyone know the name of this book.I was 14 in 1977 and I read a book that had a black army and a white army that was based on chess pieces. I think the main character was a white pawn named Pawn, he was was trying to sneak into the black armys castle and was killed about 2/3rds into the story by a black chess piece, the book ended with a big battle between the two armies. The book may have been between 60-100 pages and may have been a young readers book written in the 1950s or 60s. I would appreciate any help in locating info on this.

About six years ago, a friend lent me a fantasy book, I'm trying to figure out what it was called. The main character was raised (and possibly summoned) by a wizard deep in the forest, near the beginning of the book the wizard's power starts to flag and the young boy has to leave. He ends up in a castle and when he hears certain words it triggers memories from his past life.

In the early 80's, I read a library book that featured a heroine stumbling into a parallel world and encountering chicken-legged vampires (not Baba Yaga) and their master. I can't recall the title nor author of this novel and you will earn my eternal gratitude if you can identify this work for me so that I can locate and read it again. [more inside]

A long time ago I read a fantasy book which featured several American college students entering a fantasy realm whilst playing Dungeons and Dragons (or some role playing game of similar ilk). I remember one of the main characters was a wheelchair bound guy whose fantasy character is a dwarf warrior... Can anyone help me track down the title or series of this book?

Since everyone else is doing it.
[Bookfilter] Fantasy book (or perhaps trilogy), It may have been classed as young adult (I found it in a middle school library). Main character is a member of the ruling class who are distinguished by their violet eyes. Main character goes on your standard fantasy book quest.
Can anyone remember seeing this?
