Dress my muffled ears

I'm looking for ideas for fancy dress costumes that incorporate a set of ear defender earmuffs, which I need to wear in order to deal with amplified music and crowded environments. The earmuffs look like very large headphones. I'd like gender neutral/masculine costumes if possible, but really all ideas are welcome. [more inside]

We three costumes

Please give me ideas for a fancy dress costume for 3 adults. A 60-year-old (but look/act decades younger) couple and their late-20s child. They need to be WARM as they will be worn outdoors on New Year's Eve in a Cornish seaside town, but it also needs to be possible to eat a restaurant meal in them. [more inside]

Crab costume

A girl I'd like to impress (the barista at my local coffee shop) has invited me to her party, a "crab costume party". Any ideas for costumes? She's from New Zealand, in case that helps. Something kooky that doesn't require me to dress up like a crab would be appreciated...I don't look good in tights.

Looking for authentically historic sailor costumers

Need ideas for historical nautical costumes. Preferably 18th Century British sailors. I don't need to go as the captain or someone important. In fact it's kind of better I don't. Also where does one go about finding such costumes? [more inside]

Grease is the word

So I've landed myself in a bit of a predicament. Last year my wife had to undergo chemotherapy and was worried about the loss of her hair, so we went out and bought her a wig. I jokingly said that if she didn't need to use it I wear it to a fancy dress party. Thankfully, she didn't need to use it but that has left me having to follow through with the promise. We've now been invited to a fancy dress party and my wife has decided we're going to go as Danny & Sandy from Grease, but with her being Danny and me being Sandy. Looking for ideas of how I get a Sandy 'like' outfit.

Party like it's 1974?

Help us party like it's 1974! A friend is throwing a 1974 party (she was born in that year) and my partner and I would like to bring a gift to the party relevant to that year. We've already drawn up an extensive list of '74 references (see inside) but are really missing out on ideas for food and drink. [more inside]
