Google,
Gmail and
Facebook rolled out some major redesigns recently. In fact they look quite similar to me; a bunch of random floating lists and boxes, with a dark bar at the top. What's the philosophy beside the aesthetic choices? I realize that there are technical improvements going on behind the scenes and that taste is subjective. Still, there must be some reason Google and Facebook would make major cosmetic changes. Hey designers, what's the logic?

A third-party website has created a "profile" for me on their own site, using my main Facebeook picture, which turns up on the first page of Google hits for my full name. It seems to be some kind of cheesy dating site and I really don't want it up there. I've never used the site, or interacted with it in any way (I don't use any FB apps at all, and am savvy enough not to click on spammy links). Do I have any recourse for getting this taken down?

Why are so many sites these days switching to Facebook commenting systems? Am I really so unique in not wanting neither my real name/photo splashed across the pages of a thousand websites nor my opinions on various hobbies and secret interests published on Facebook for all my acquaintances to view? And what can I do to work around this system?

So I tried to get off of Facebook forever about a month ago by deleting my account (not just deactivating it) and was successful: no more profile or contacts. However, since graduating from my MBA program, I feel the pull to get back on it. This time I started to focus on only adding my close friends and business school classmates, but when I added a bunch of people today I was given a few warnings about 'annoying or abusive behavior.' I naturally stopped sending friend requests, but now I'm wondering how soon can I add friends after such a warning and how does one go about rebuilding the friend base when Facebook hits you with these warnings? Thanks in advance for the response!

Developers and content curators: Help me with some market research. I am trying to find an off-the-shelf solution or to spec out how to develop a solution to the following problem. My organization is looking to setup an internal collection, curation, and distribution system to push multimedia content to hundreds of social media accounts (in dozens of languages) with potentially hundreds of users. Ability to enable push-button publishing via Facebook, Twitter, and other APIs through a plug-in architecture. Sound interesting? Read on.

So, Facebook won't let me invite all my friends at once to an event I created. Instead, I have to manually click on all my friends, one at a time, to invite them. I used to use
this very useful code as a workaround. But about 2 weeks ago, Facebook changed it all again, so the code doesn't work anymore. Does anyone have a new workaround? Or, can codemonkeys take a look at the code to see if there's any minor tweaks that can be made to make it work again? Thanks in advance.

All of a sudden, I can see comments that my friends post on the status or links of people who aren't my friends. And vice-versa. So, if I post a comment on Joe's status update or link, Sally can see my comment and Joe's status/link even though Sally and Joe are not friends. This seems to be new, and is a bug, not a feature. Any way to control this on my end?
