I need to monitoring a few social media accounts (on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) for a short period of time. Is there a service I can use that will give me a feed of just these select accounts, without giving me a feed of all the accounts I follow/am friends with?

Twitter is breaking shit because they hate their users/want to monetize. I used to use Tweetdeck to send out coordinated facebook and twitter posts for work; I'd like to avoid using two different programs (doubling my work). HootSuite seems close, but for semi-irrelevant reasons, not currently an option. I run a Mac.
What are the best options out there?

So, I've recently inherited the community and social media role for the company I work for. I'm hoping to use our social media presence to drive up engagement and get users to use our product (a niche-focused social network in the finance realm), but I want to do it
without being a douchebag.

II am trying to get a handle on web content and which content has, overall, the best stickiness. Sites like YouTube, Tumblr, Flickr are, as near as I can tell, mostly visual. Blog and microblogging sites like Wordpress and Twitter are word based. Quora, Reddit and Metafilter are information sharing communities. Podcasts and music sites like MySpace or Soundcloud are, for the most part, sound focused. And then you have sites like Facebook and Google+ that are trying to combine the best of all of them.

A team from our office is heading over to a number of China cities and they want to be active on social media the whole time to promote it. But given that China blocks twitter and Facebook, I need some workarounds. Is there a client like Hootsuite or tweet deck or buffer that ISN'T blocked? And what are my other options? Does instagram work? What about Linkedin?

I have been combing the social networks I use trying to find a way to link two of them. It's not a big list; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Soundcloud, and Wordpress. I know about IFTTT and Hootsuite, but I'd prefer to not use third party apps if possible. Facebook and Twitter of course, connect to almost everything. But I'm also trying to figure out how stuff I upload to Soundcloud can be posted on LinkedIn. And likewise, I can't get LinkedIn posts to show up my Facebook business page. Is it just not possible w/o 3rd party apps that will make posts I don't need? If there is a way, can somebody tell me?

I'm really tired of social media; I've grown to find all of it (FB, twitter, etc.) endlessly boring. For those of you who have come to the same place, have you just faded away, or do you leave notes on your open accounts to the effect that "I'm not really here anymore?" Prolly not going to shut it off altogether.

I recently became enthralled with the unfolding Twitter saga of the larcenous wedding photographer. So now I'm wondering how many similar stories have happened without me realizing; not just the big stories like Anthony Weiner, the Li Gong incident and Cook Source, but more low-key incidents that I might not have heard about where people were lying, cheating, or were just plain wrong and were discovered through social media. The human flesh search engine and Internet vigilantism articles on Wikipedia have some famous examples, but does anyone know about more obscure stuff? Thanks!

Take it as a given that I have already tried to dissuade him, and help me at least execute the task as best as possible. Ideally, i am looking for services that actually help you get real people and not fake accounts or spam bots, etc.

My organization is looking to setup an internal collection, curation, and distribution system to push multimedia content to hundreds of social media accounts (in dozens of languages) with potentially hundreds of users. Ability to enable push-button publishing via Facebook, Twitter, and other APIs through a plug-in architecture. Sound interesting? Read on.

Facebook and Twitter are passing me by. It's no longer enough to know how to rank very well in Google, by providing good material that people want to read and that is easily indexed by Google. Now, we're told, Google is passé. Small businesses must switch to using Facebook and Twitter to reach their audiences. But how?

I'm hiring, and in addition to interviewing, checking references (official and un-), etc., I'd like to see how candidates are using Twitter, Facebook, and/or Tumblr. Facility with this stuff isn't a primary requirement of the job, but it's helpful; I also think it's a good way to gauge a candidate's judgement and to see how they manage their public face. On the other hand, it feels like following or friending is weird, or possibly an invasion of privacy. Is it?

Any good examples of "Social Sign In"? For the little web toys I make, I don't want to make full sign up forms, so I'm looking for any sites that are using Facebook / Twitter / Google / Yahoo / OpenID / etc for sign in. Something like what stack overflow is doing here: http://stackoverflow.com/users/login (only OpenID though).
