I saw that Facebook has created an updated version of the News Feed (see it at
Facebook.com/newsfeed) that has larger pictures and less text. I really liked it, so I signed up for the waiting list. A month has passed and still no sign of the new design. Anyone know when the public release will be?

Mefites, can you help me come up with a quick and dirty way to download the text of all the comments and posts from a given Facebook Fan page? I'm trying to do a word cloud visualization of our Facebook presence. Thanks.

I am an Airbnb user. I log in via Facebook. I recently deleted my Facebook account, and now can't log into Airbnb.
Is there a way for me to access my account? The email/password way in doesn't work, because I didn't originally set my account up that way.

Twitter is breaking shit because they hate their users/want to monetize. I used to use Tweetdeck to send out coordinated facebook and twitter posts for work; I'd like to avoid using two different programs (doubling my work). HootSuite seems close, but for semi-irrelevant reasons, not currently an option. I run a Mac.
What are the best options out there?

I have this friend, we've known each other since we were five and I see her every time I go home. She helped me deal with my abusive ex and recently attended my grandad's funeral which was a difficult time. It's all good until she writes offensive, provocative stuff on FB and I feel like I don't know this person. Do I brush it to one side or engage with it? How would you deal with this?

So it seems like the Boston bombings have caused a sizeable minority of my FB friends to start admonishing everyone for not being more upset about 'real' bombings in the middle east/ deaths in Africa. (None of my friends are American, if that matters, all are from the UK). While I too am sad more atrocities from other continents don't get the attention in our media they deserve, I can't help but feel the impulse behind the statements is kind of underhand and nasty in a way I can't put my finger on. Can you explain what motivations drive this?

II am trying to get a handle on web content and which content has, overall, the best stickiness. Sites like YouTube, Tumblr, Flickr are, as near as I can tell, mostly visual. Blog and microblogging sites like Wordpress and Twitter are word based. Quora, Reddit and Metafilter are information sharing communities. Podcasts and music sites like MySpace or Soundcloud are, for the most part, sound focused. And then you have sites like Facebook and Google+ that are trying to combine the best of all of them.

A team from our office is heading over to a number of China cities and they want to be active on social media the whole time to promote it. But given that China blocks twitter and Facebook, I need some workarounds. Is there a client like Hootsuite or tweet deck or buffer that ISN'T blocked? And what are my other options? Does instagram work? What about Linkedin?

On that scroll that runs on your left-hand side of your Facebook page, you see that a friend has made a comment on a post.
The first few words of their comment are visible, but unless you can find the actual full comment they posted, you can''t figure out what they said, and you don't want to scroll through 1,894 comments looking for that one person's thoughts. There must be a simple way to get to their posting, right?

Facebook has sent me a code for $50 in free advertising to use in promoting my blog and/or its page on FB. Is it worth bothering to set up a $50 advertisement on Facebook when I'm not willing to spend anything at all on advertising over and above that? And it makes me nervous that they want my credit card info up front — are there pitfalls to avoid in making sure nothing gets charged to my credit card?

Recently, several friends and acquaintances in their 20s have passed away. Their online accounts -- particularly their Facebook accounts -- linger, as memento mori, covered with "miss u" wall posts and that sort of thing. Which has got me thinking about what will happen when people who are now in their 20s and early 30s die. Especially if they die young.

I have been combing the social networks I use trying to find a way to link two of them. It's not a big list; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Soundcloud, and Wordpress. I know about IFTTT and Hootsuite, but I'd prefer to not use third party apps if possible. Facebook and Twitter of course, connect to almost everything. But I'm also trying to figure out how stuff I upload to Soundcloud can be posted on LinkedIn. And likewise, I can't get LinkedIn posts to show up my Facebook business page. Is it just not possible w/o 3rd party apps that will make posts I don't need? If there is a way, can somebody tell me?

Apple tech support says it's a Java problem and I just have to wait until an Apple software update allows Java again, but that seems wrong.

Ever since I've had a facebook account, I've had it set so that nobody can add me as a friend; I must add them first.
Recently, I added a friend of mine, and I didn't receive a confirmation that he accepted; I could simply see his wall and stuff an hour or so after I added him. When we hung out next, he said, "So, you finally added me on facebook." He'd apparently added me
two years ago and to him, I'd never confirmed, but I'd never even received notification of his request.
I've had my fb account for years; certainly there must be other people I've inadvertently offended in this way. How can I view pending incoming friend requests, when I've never received notifications for them?
