Looking for a new hobby to do at home, MANY restrictions

I'm casting about for a new at-home hobby, but need something that doesn't take up much space at all, doesn't require staring at a glowing screen or tax eyes much, and doesn't aggravate my RSI. [more inside]

How can I improve my computer screen reading experience?

I do a lot of proofreading for work, but it's a struggle compared to proofreading hard copies. I already use f.lux to cut down on eye strain, and browser plugins to make text more readable, but I find I'm still straining to keep my eyes from bouncing all over the place. Help! [more inside]

reading glasses, .50 strength, how to search?

Searching for [reading glasses .50] gets me 2.50, etc., on both Google and Amazon. ReadingGlasses.com has expensive ones, but I'm hoping to find good, low-strength reading glasses for the same price one would pay in a drug store. Strength .5 and/or .25. Any specific recommendations or search tips? (and what is the unit of measurement, anyway?)

Out vile jelly

I stare at the computer all day for work, and I stare at it at home for recreation and to further my career-change efforts. In the last year or so, though, I've developed intermittent eye strain that makes it almost impossible to do my job or to make any progress on changing careers. [more inside]

42" TV as monitor: good idea?

I'm considering buying a 42" television to use as a computer monitor. I'm not sure whether I'd (a) put it across the room from me, (b) put it directly in front of my face, or (c) be better advised to give it a pass. Your advice? [more inside]

3D movies -- are they survivable now?

Is the theatrical 3D film experience (e.g. 'Monsters vs. Aliens') much better than it used to be? Eyestrain, headaches, nausea used to be what you suffered through in the old red-blue glasses days in order to say you saw a 3D movie...has that gotten good enough now that it's safe to take, e.g., a 7 year old boy to these things?

Why am I having pressure in part of my face?

Why do I have a constant feeling of pressure on one part of my face? For months or even a year I have felt an almost constant feeling of pressure on the left side of my face around my cheek. It's sort of like I'm always squinting just a little bit and I can't stop doing it, like the muscle won't un-clench or something. [more inside]

My eyes! My eyes!

My eyesight has always been great, and in general I see just fine. As a general rule, the world is not blurry and when I look at something, whether it be 1 foot or 20 (or 100) feet away, I see what I expect to see. I've never worn glasses. [more inside]
