My orthodontist wants me to get rid of 4 premolar teeth before giving me braces. Googling tells me this is very common, but is it just an easy fix for them, or really a basic part of the process?

How can I extract/rid of methylmercury out of canned Tuna? I bought a ton, and just realized I should have went with canned salmon. There HAS to be an easy way to at least cut down on the Hg content... right?

I'm 34, and currently have all my wisdom teeth, but one broke over the summer and got an infection a while back. I'm on heavy duty antibiotics now to minimize that and the extraction is scheduled for Friday morning. My regular dentist will be doing the procedure, and it sounds as though I'll just be getting a local anaesthetic. He said I wouldn't even need someone to drive me to the appointment, though I probably will, just to be on the safe side. What else should I know before going into this?

I'm looking for stories about hydrofracking. Specifically, for stories about how a drilling company obtains leases and commences operation, and how it manages its relationships with the locals. Ideally I'd like stories from the perspective of neighbors and people in the local community where they have operated, but stories from the drilling company side would be interesting, too.

I will be having a root canal soon, but the dentist has told me that the damage to the tooth may not be treatable by the root canal, and that other action may be necessary. He's given me a few options to consider, and has asked me to pick one.

Have any of you flown on an airplane the day after you got a wisdom tooth removed? My oral surgeon says it'll be fine, but I'm nervous.

Our beloved nine year old part Poodle part Shitzoo (sp?) will be getting his back molars extracted because of severe gingivitis and infection. The vet said anywhere from ten to twelve will be extracted.
What can we expect regarding recovery? Will he be in considerable pain for a long time?

I have a carny mouth. Should I get dental insurance before I decide to take care of it? No pain, but several cavities and a few teeth (including two wisdom teeth) have been rotting and falling apart for several years. 4-6 years ago, a dental school said that it would cost 4-5 thousand dollars and take 3-4 visits to fix. That doesn't include getting them whitened or anything cosmetic. Today, one of my molars broke in half and I swallowed it with some wasabi trail mix. That tooth only had a little speck of a cavity yesterday.

Dentistry Filter: You are not a dentist; if you are, you are not my dentist. It being Sunday, though, and my surgeon being out of the office, I've got a question about my recent extractions. Rather unpleasant descriptions inside.

My teeth have been in disrepair for several years now, and I've been saving my money for nearly as long to have them extracted (and replaced by dentures) en masse. Unfortunately, I discovered yesterday that at least one tooth has grown impatient with that schedule.

Extracting Wisdom: I've been putting it dodging it for years, but it's looking (and feeling) like I'm going to have to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I do have insurance, but I have to go to a specific provider - a provider I've never actually been to before. Any advice on questions I should ask or things I should look for? Is one oral surgeon as good as another or should I shop around and/or pay extra if needed?
