Searching for a long-exposure airbourne picture of a shuttle launch... at night!

About 12 months ago I saw what looked like a long-exposure shot of a shuttle launch, at night, from a high vantage point (possibly a helecopter). My efforts to find it since have not since located this stunning shot, despite searches of the usual, common-sense general and subject specific sites.

Would the hive mind be able to help with this?

Extended Stay In Tucson, AZ

Good Extended Stay Hotels / Suites in Tucson, AZ this summer? My wife and I are spending 23 days in Tucson, AZ. She will be taking a class at U of A and I will be working on my dissertation from "home".

Since I am going to be working out of wherever we stay, I wanted a furnished and quiet extended stay hotel room or suite. Sublets are a little cheaper, but kinda a crap-shoot in my opinion (plus, it is hard to find a sublet for less than a month).

Does anyone have recommendations for good and cheapish ($30-$40 per night) extended stay hotels or suites in Tucson, AZ for July?

Thanks in advance!

Need help extending a wireless network

I need help extending a wireless network either via an Airport Express or an ancient Linksys (BEFW11S4 ver. 2). I have limited experience setting these things up but do okay with my mac-only setup at home. Here's what's gong on:

The small cooperative market where I work has a Netgear FS108 router connected to a Linksys WRT54G2. This is set up in the office basement in the absolute furthest place it can be from where the customers use the service in the cafe upstairs and across the building. It is connected to a computer running XP, I believe. I am new at this place and have suggested we extend the network so that the wifi is useful. They love the idea and asked me to do it. errrrr.

So I brought an Airport Express I have at home and gave it a go. Immediately I ran into WDS issues and working at the cash register meant I had no time to really search, read, etc. When I got home I did some research and found a few OLD articles (1, 2) about how to accomplish what I want to do. But each article also has hundreds of comments with people either disputing the original author, others saying it worked perfectly, and still others saying it worked but they needed to do x,y and z.

I also have an old Linksys BEFW11S4 ver. 2 that I have had in the closet since 2003. I have not used it since I switched to Mac that year. I have no idea what firmware is being run on any of these items. I am happy to upgrade the firmware for the BEFW and/or the AE, but as a new employee I would rather not flash the WRT54G2 unless absolutely necessary. Or some reassurance as I don't really understand it. I *think* I read that the BEFW doesn't have the ability to flash the firmware, but I can't say for sure.

If it helps, there is CURRENTLY no security on the wireless network. For the time being that isn't going to change, and so I would appreciate that part of the equation be left out of this discussion.

Thanks for reading this far. I could really use some help and instructions in an easy-to-follow way.

hey, here's a card! see you in... not sure when!

Do you attend the birthdays of your nieces and nephews (if they don't live all that close to you)? I used to live close to family, with all my siblings in maximum 2.5 hour driving distance. So for years, I'd go to the birthdays of my nieces and nephews, happily, and the distance was workable.

But I recently moved several US states away, and am beginning to feel bad about not attending the birthdays of my nieces/nephews. I call, send them a card/gift, but I'm going to be present. It's difficult (and expensive) to hop a plane and take that time for an afternoon's birthday party. I don't see this changing. The distance, in a lot of ways, has been important to my health and is something I quite badly needed. I have another year of grad school, and after that, I will very likely work internationally.

But I'm also starting to feel a bit guilty, for being the only one who isn't celebrating with them. The next "furthest" family member is my sister in law, who lives bout 6 hours driving distance, and she goes for every birthday.

What I'm trying to gauge, is some concept of what is "normal" for people in these situations - I know every family is different, but I don't have a lot of precedents to work with (with my own aunts and uncles, my dad's side was halfway across the world, and we were estranged from my mom's side). Because of this, I don't feel I really know what's "normal."

My siblings aren't making me feel guilty about missing their birthdays, it's mostly self-induced. I think because my siblings and I never really had much experience with this whole aunts and uncles and extended family thing, we've all remained in relative close distance enough to maintain bonds within our own immediate family. I don't feel this is realistic for the path I'm on (and want to be on) in life.

How involved are you in the lives of your nieces and nephews? What are some ways I can cope with feeling guilty for not being around them? What might constitute "normal" or "average" for such inevitables in relationships with growing extended family?

[NYCFilter] Extended Stay in on around Manhattan

A couple of friends of mine are going to study in NYC for a period of 6 weeks starting mid November. Any suggestions regarding places offering extended stay? Hotel might not be an option since it is too expensive.

Renting an apartment has proven a little difficult because of the short term of the rent and because they needed it fully equipped.

So they are looking for options of places that offer "extended stay".

Does anyone have experience with that? Should they look instead for an appartment?

How do I change Extended File Attributes (also known as NTFS File Attributes) like Title, other than one at a time?
I have a few hundred files called things like 1234_ABCDE.htm. I'd like to rename them to 1234.htm, which I can easily make a command file to do. But then I'd like the ABCDE part to be in one of the extended attributes that show up in file explorer or any folder window if I pick those columns (in Windows XP).

I don't want to do this one at a time using the Properties dialog Summary tag, but can't find any utility that lets me change these attributes any other way. I can't believe someone hasn't written one, but finding it - or writing one myself - is beyond me.

S'il vous plait - what's the deal with accented characters in Firefox?

I'm reading through some instructional material regarding the French language from About.com, and am running up against some inconsistencies in the way accented characters are being rendered in Firefox. Some pages render correctly, and others do not - the accented characters are replaced by question mark characters (these pages render correctly in Safari). Why would there be a difference between pages like this?

Fuzzy logic search to find international characters.

I've got a database of names, many of which have international characters (e-acute, c-cedilla, o-umlaut, etc). I want the search routine to be clever enough that if I search for "Celik" it'll find c-cedilla-elik, even though "c" and "c-cedilla" are entirely different. Does a look-up table exist that matches whole range of such non-English letters with their nearest-looking English equivalents? Or can anyone here help me construct one?

I'm thinking o and u umluat, c and s cedilla, o circumflex, Turkish g and undotted-i, Scandinavian o with a line through it, Spanish n, e with a grave and acute, accented a, the dipthongs.

Any more for any more?
