There are lots of shared expenses apps out there, but I've had a hard time finding one that lets multiple people enter their expenses into the same group group. This is what I mean: several roommates share group expenses. On their respective phones, they have an app that lets them punch in any expense they've incurred. It goes to the same group, and then you can calculate who owes whom. This seems simple, but I'm having trouble finding this feature!

I am trying to find an apartment in a city across the country in the U.S., before moving there. I am unable to see the apartment/roommates in person before moving, because I am trying to leave my abusive family and can't let on to them that I am leaving (
Here is that backstory.). So, I will be doing the one-way ticket plan. I am having difficulty finding an apartment without seeing it first, as people prefer to meet potential roommates in person and when I mention to them that I can't see it in person (and suggest Skyping or videochatting to meet each other/see the apartment) I have had limited success so far and am wondering if I am coming across as a Craigslist creep. Is this the right strategy? Is it a numbers game, and I should just keep trying? Or, should I just fly there first and then find a place? Thanks for any advice.

My wife and I live in an expensive (by non-NYC standards) NYC apartment. Recently, lamenting how much of our salary went down the rent drain, we wondered if we could save money by living in a van. (This is a thought experiment. We're not really planning on doing it.) Is this feasible economically?

I'd love to get a handle on my money the same way I'm getting a handle on my eating. I've been using
Fatsecret and its corresponding
Android app for several weeks now to lose weight...and it's working! I think the reasons it works for me are A) it forces me to eat consciously; I know I will be entering the calories, so instead of scarfing eight cookies, I'm counting so I can enter the right amount in Fatsecret later, B) It's simple (takes only a moment to choose a food, dropdown menu for portion, barcode scanner/can enter food anywhere with app; I don't have to think about when, what, how often to eat), C) It's almost like a game (Hey, only 74% of allotted calories today! Woo!) I want something like that for money.

wife and I overestimated our dependent care expenses this year...by a lot. I have to come up with valid expenses, for the remainder of 2010, that we can occur to cover 3K remaining in our account. Any ideas? We did the camp thing this summer, but ended up not signing up for a few of them from our original budget. Our son is in kindergarten at a private school, so we're past the time we can pay for tuition out of this account. PLEASE HELP!!!! Thanks mefite nation!!!

I used to get the cheapest liquid soap for washing hands I could find, but recently, I got the "shea butter" soap for $3 and found that the increased quality more than makes up for the increased cost. The question is: What else can I spend a little more on to get much more quality? (Fluffy towels, sheets, maybe?) Are there websites that review this?

Owner A needs new laptop and wants to expense it to the business, as 99% of business is run/done online. Owner B thinks laptop should come out of A's share of the $ and not be counted as a business expense unless Owners A B & C all get laptops. Who should pay for the new computer? The business? Or should the cost of the laptop be subtracted from A's earnings?

I am interviewing for a new job shortly. I am trying to come up with a dollar figure for how much I should ask for. I will be changing cities, working a fairly similar job to the one I am in now, and moving to a city where the housing costs are slightly higher. How do I figure out how much I need to make the move? Is a calculator available to help with this decision? I am looking for raw numbers here, I will factor in social costs later.
