So I have achilles tendinopathy as well as problems with my knees and feet which means (long story short) I need non-weight-bearing exercise. I have a recumbent stationary bike which is great for developing strength in knees, is easy on the poor achilles and is generally a good idea. I loved exercising with the Expresso bike - it's a stationary bike that has a screen so you can tour through virtual courses. I found it surprisingly entertaining and incredibly motivating - I loved going faster and passing the other virtual bikers. My gym membership is up, and I'd love to have something similar at home. I have a recumbent exercise bike that I'm lately using for longer periods of time while I read, etc. Which is great. Except that my rear end is going numb. Is a gel seat cushion going to help? What do I need to do to make this endurable for an hour or more at a time?
