Love weight lifting, hate the drive to the local Megagym (or any gym). Reasonably cheap weight lifting equipment abounds, but space is a problem. I have a couple of options available, and I could use some help.

YANMD: Recently I've been experiencing terrible leg soreness/fatigue when riding my bike. It starts almost immediately, and lasts through the whole ride (longest stretch is about 3 or 4 miles through the city). I'm looking for suggestions for lessening or preventing it, so that I can continue to ride around town.

I'm looking for a low-maintenance treadmill I won't break within a few years that I can run, jog, and walk on at home at varying inclinations and speeds. Difficultyfilter: Must offer in-home delivery and professional assembly and be able to hold hardcover books up to ~800 pages in thickness, if such a thing exists.

In regard to the Tabata exercise method, i.e., eight cycles of 20 seconds of super-intense exercise and 10 seconds of rest, would there be any benefit (or harm) in either a. skipping the 10 second breaks, so you'd be doing four minutes straight of (actual) super-intense exercise, or b. doing more than eight cycles, so you might be exercising for six or eight minutes (including the breaks)? Thanks much.

I'd like to train for a front lever, but I'm too weak to get my hips up even in tuck (back rounded, knees to chin), even if I try to jump into it. What other exercises can I do to develop a tuck front lever? (I do have access to a weight room, and I'm working on straps rather than rings, if that makes any difference.)

I just finished a 10 mile race, now I want to train for a 10K race in 6 weeks. What kind of training program should I follow? How can I best make the transition to the shorter distance without losing any of the hard-won fitness I earned while training for the 10-miler?

I'm attending a wedding in 3 months (late June) for which I have been asked by the bride to wear a specific short dress. It's actually very cute - black, sparkly - and is flattering on me in every way except that, well, it's short. And I have fat, pale legs. I'll be wearing nude high heels, but besides that, how can I make my lump gams appear nicer? Quick-fix exercises? Spray tans? Tights/stockings are not an option.

I want an online or android fitness site/app that can keep a list of available equipment/preferences and then design strength training routines for each specified day. This seems like a pretty obvious thing for sites like fitday etc. to do, so it must be out there, but I can't find it.

I'm 22, male, 184 centimeters (~6ft), 70kg (161 pounds), 11% body fat (as judged by one of those imprecise electrical gadgets), and, until recently, fairly sedentary. I'm now running three times a week and plan to start lifting weights another three days a week. For the past two weeks I've been assiduously tracking everything I eat with
this software (
note: I'm not at all interested in "caloric restriction") and a gram-precise food scale. I'm trying to become generally fit - increase cardiovascular endurance, gain muscle, start fencing again. With all that in mind, how do I decide on nutritional targets?

Thanks to a
previous post I've been able to get back to the gym and get a great workout going. Now I have a snag. I hurt my rotator cuff years ago (due to a poor benchpress technique or lack thereof). I do the advised exercises for it but regardless, I am unable to lift above my head without injury (and the doc advised against it). Eventually surgery may help. Shoulder presses prior to injury would really bulk up my shoulders but because of this injury I cannot do them anymore. I do dumbbell front and side raises which help but is there any other exercises that might bulk/round the shoulder? I am not going for extremely heavy weights. Just enough to continue to challenge the muscle. Any thoughts?
