I am midway through losing a heap of excess weight. Are there any tips/tricks/techniques for making me more comfortable with my new body during this transitional phase? I used to be fairly confident, but now (as a side effect of the diet) I just think of myself as "fat". [more inside]

What kind of specialist physician would best be able to advise on a training regime - nutrition, exercise, the whole kit and kaboodle - for serious body sculpting and/or weight loss? Sports medicine? Any other medical specialties? Any recommendations for such a person in New York?

Can you lose fat and build muscle with resistance training alone? I'm with a trainer who claims that building muslce through resistance training and reasonable eating is enough to destroy fat. He claims there's little need for specific cardio sessions -- that there's enough cardio in his resistance sessions and in daily life. Wrong? [more inside]

When one is dieting by maintaining a small calorie deficit, is it appropriate to apply calories burned via one day's exercise to the next day's calorie total? Since I can't predict beforehand what days I'll have an opportunity to exercise, I can't plan ahead. Since I exercise rather late in the evening, binging the amount of calories after I return (directly before bed) would probably send 'em directly to my waist regardless of how much I'd just exercised. So I'm overweight, have been my entire life with a couple of exceptions. I'm 6'5" and around 290 lbs. Which actually isn't as bad as it sounds, even at my skinniest (post-military) I have a 50" chest. But I'm still pretty out of shape and would like to fix that.

I'm overweight and I'm pretty damned tired of it (23 years old, about 260ish 6' tall). I've already started modifying my eating habits and now I'm looking for a workout solution. I'm a computer guy, so I spend a -lot- of time sitting during the day (usually night). I know a lot of you work out quite regularly and I would like to know if someone could come up with a basic workout regimen.
I live in an apartment complex with a decent gym. I just don't know what days I should walk how far and what machines I should do how many reps of what. Also, I'd like some suggestions as to where I should go after I've been doing this for a while if possible.
Apologies in advance if my search-fu is inferior.

I'm considering taking a weight loss supplement (something like TrimSpa or Ripped Fuel), and was wondering if anyone had personal recommendations or knew of an independent site that reviewed supplements for effectiveness and safety/side-effects. Now that Ephedra has been banned, I'm operating under the assumption that these supplements are more or less safe, is that correct? What are the differences between the different brands? Any ingredients that I should look for or avoid? [my google-fu has failed miserably, what with all of the sites trying to sell this stuff]

Fitness advice: I'm on a long term weight loss program (~2lbs/week.) 32lbs into it, I'm starting to think that I'd better do more than Dance Dance Revolution if I don't want to become one of those skin-saggy people from Ripley's Believe It Or Not. I'm considering either Tae Bo or Pilates for at-home exercise, and would like testimonials or suggestions for other programs.

Need recommendations for home exercise equipment (male, mid-20s). My requirements are (1) cost, (2) compactness, and (3) targeted toward a cardio workout with the ultimate goal of losing weight. I saw this on TV last night, and while it's marketed to a thighs-and-butts demographic, the size, concept, and price range is kind of what I'm looking for. Anyhow, I'd appreciate hearing any advice from happy or unhappy consumers of these types of products.
