Why the discrepancy with my heart rate monitors?

I usually wear a Wahoo TICKR heart rate monitor when I cycle. Recently, our office purchased us FitBit Charge HR wristbands as part of a "get healthy" initiative... They don't really seem to agree. [more inside]

Why am I invisible to exercise machines?

I've tried wearing a Polar chest strap in the past, with good results. I am, to the best of my knowledge, neither dead nor a vampire. I can feel my pulse. I'm an average-sized man of average height in average shape. My heart rate is not particularly fast or extraordinarily slow. So why am I invisible to the heart-rate sensors on gym exercise equipment? Still my beating heart

I have a very fast heart rate while exercising: 160 or so at a brisk walk; 190 at a light jog; over 200 with more strenuous exercises. I am out of shape right now and have never been in athlete condition, but I have also never been sedentary (bike commuted 10 miles each day up until an injury last year, garden, walk my dog two miles a day, etc.), and my heart rate went just as high when I was in better shape. Exercising on Concerta

I'm looking for advice on how to exercise effectively but safely on ADHD medication. My heart rate has been jumping up to about 170 (90% of the heart rate zone for a 40 year old woman) with moderate exertion, but if I lower it, I don't feel like I'm getting much of a workout. I'd like to find a solution that would let me remain focused and still alive. [more inside]

My heart muscle is worrying me!

ExerciseFilter: I've been doing the gym thing at least 3x per week for about 3 or 4 months now. Strength training and cardio mix. About 6 weeks ago, I started Trileptal as a mood stabilizer (I am not epilectic). I am on no other meds. It's the type of drug where you ramp up your dosage over a period of time. In the last two weeks, my low THR feels like my heart is pounding as if I'd just been in car accident. [more inside]

Recommendations on a heart rate monitor?

Recommendations on a heart rate monitor? I'm 27 and I go to the gym four to five days a week with a ratio of about 80% weight training (3-4 days) and 20% cardio (1-2 days). I'd like to do more interval training to lower my percentage body fat and many of the online resources describe this in terms of heart rate. Not knowing a thing about heart rate monitors, I thought I'd ask here. [more inside]
