If I, say, go on a very long run and burn enough calories to metabolize one ounce of fat, how does that weight leave my body? That is, do the products come out in my breath, pee, poop, or some combination? Everything I can find online is either too complicated or too simple to help me find an answer.

All my life I've had this problem when doing any sort of cardio activity: my throat can stand my breathing for about 15 seconds before it starts to burn like hell. I've tried breathing differently, asking for medical advice, drinking various beverages before/during/after working out... nothing. It's happened when I've been in better shape and when I'm a lazy slob. So I avoid cardio, which I have always desperately needed. How can I overcome this and work out pain-free?

Can you lose fat and build muscle with resistance training alone? I'm with a trainer who claims that building muslce through resistance training and reasonable eating is enough to destroy fat. He claims there's little need for specific cardio sessions -- that there's enough cardio in his resistance sessions and in daily life. Wrong?

So I go to the gym semi-regularly and use the Elliptical machine. It has some built-in routines. One is called "fat-burning" and one is called "Cardio Workout". The fat burning sets a target heart rate in the 120's (number made up) while the Cardio sets my target heart rate somewhat higher -- maybe the low 140's. My question is, which will actually burn more fat, the Fat Burn or the Cardio?
