How do I turn apple (pies) into kiwis?

How do I get New Zealand dollars within the United States? So I am permanently moving to NZ within the next 9 months or so from the United States. I have a savings account in the states that has not been touched in years (except to add more to it).

How do I take advantage of the good US dollar and put my savings into NZ dollars? I don't want to do it AFTER I move there (which is what all the NZ bank websites are wanting me to do).

Again, this money will NOT be touched, and I don't need access to it until I get to NZ (if that matters). I just want to take advantage of the good US dollar right now.

I don't need any advice about how I should be investing, or stock tips. I don't want to become a foreign exchange trader. I just want to turn a good portion of my savings that is just sitting there into NZ currency...something I will have to do in 9 moths anyways. How do I do this today?

Also, if you have more questions for me, I will be watching this post so I can can answer them!

Free, accurate foreign exchange data feed for GBP?

I'm trying to avoid shelling out an annual fee to XE for UK foreign exchange data. The European Central Bank provides a feed with Euro as base currency and the Bank of NZ has one for NZD. Surely there's a GBP equivalent?

What do you do with leftover foreign change? I found a five-pound note left over from a trip to England about three years ago. I don't think I'll be going there again in the near future (sorry, guys) and I don't know anyone else who is.

This note is worth almost ten bucks! What do you usually do with leftover change / bills when you return home? I'd consider just exchanging it but I'm sure I'll lose a lot on the commission - seems like there should be a better way.

British Airways used to have a great program where you could leave leftover change in an envelope on the plane, and they would get it exchanged at no cost, then donate it ("change for good", I think). Unfortunately I didn't fly BA on the way back last time - but does such a program exist elsewhere? Any other suggestions? What about coins? Thanks!

FOREX day trading, can it be done?

Do you trade FOREX? How's it going? How did you get into it (reasons, starting capital, techniques, etc.)? Success or failure? Is it plausible to actually make a living, what skills and abilities are necessary? How does a 24hr market affect your lifestyle? What is the most cost-effective way to convert $40K US dollars into pounds Sterling? The money is currently in dollars in my US bank account, and I want it to be in pounds in my UK bank account. Both banks offer terrible exchange rates. Criteria for success: (1) Good exchange rate/low commission (2) Money not stolen by unscrupulous operation who disappear into night.

Has anyone out there in hyperspace used the services of XE Trade (www.xe.com/fx/) ? I want to transfer a $30k+ figure from a USD to a EURO account without incurring the ridiculous foreign exhange charges of my bank. This service looks good, but is it trustworthy ? Thanks !

Hey, are there any MeFites planning a trip to Mexico soon? I just found a few pesos while cleaning up (not much, only 96), and I'd much rather give them to someone than exchange them for what's probably barely enough to buy a cup of coffee.
