I have lists, in Excel spreadsheets, that contain perhaps 500 rows of data in three columns: Date, Time and Stock Ticker Symbol. I need a method to correlate those three things with unusual stock activity.
In other words, if column 1 is March 10, 2010, and column 2 is 10 a.m., and column three is INTC, I need to know if something unusual happened - high volume or big price movement - for INTC around 10 a.m. March 10.
Anyone know a program that'll do this?

I'm trying to paste some text from Excel into Word. Normally when I do this, I select Paste Special > Unformatted Text so my stuff doesn't display as a table. But this time, the Excel text is already formatted with a ton of bold, italics, and underlining, and I don't know how to retain that formatting while still ditching the table. Help?

Excelfilter: Okay, I'm confident that this can be done in Excel, but I don't know how. Basically, I have a set of samples for which a value (size) was measured at various days. I need some formulas to tell me when the first and last values were measured and what those values were (for each sample).

Can you reccomend me a good Excel 2007 Book?
I'm currently studying a foundation degree in Renwable Energy in the UK, and am struggling with Excel 2007. A general book would be handy, but the main topic I'm really struggling with is 'visual basic', so it would need to include detailed information on how to use that and the coding system of Excel.
Can anyone reccomend a good book to get that would include information relative to that?

I'm making an archival database (in Excel) with about 10,000 rows and 6-7 columns for each row. I'm doing this so the information will be easy to cross-reference and search. I need to organize a spreadsheet of log files into specific columns. The spreadsheet is a converted text column, each log file parses things differently, so column 'a' on one row can be userid, while column 'd' on row is the userid.
I want to organize this spreadsheet, so that column a is userid for all logs. is there a specific excel formula or macro i should use, i was thinking:
if cell contains userid, move to column 'x'. just not sure how to do this.

ExcelFilter: I need to write something pretty simple in Excel. I have big spreadsheet of data. Some rows are fill-colored, and some columns are fill-colored. I need something that will show me (hopefully in a table or something) the cells that have their entire column colored AND have their entire row colored. Returning the value of the cell would be helpful too. (I have a feeling this is an embarassingly easy question to answer)

I have a massive spreadsheet that's simply too difficult to read, because of its size. Is there any way of making a second spreadsheet that is exactly the same as the first, except that the 2nd's cells just show an "x" if there is information in the 1st's cells. i.e., the 2nd spreadsheet would just show whether or not the cells on the 1st spreadsheet have been filled in, but not the actual information itself. If sheet 1 looks like
this, sheet two should look like
this.
