protect my file!

I would like to save an Excel spreadsheet onto the desktop of a computer for people to look at, but not to modify. I know how to protect the sheet to make it read-only or to require a password to modify it, but is there any way for me to prevent people from deleting it all together? I should add that the computer on which I want to have the file is running Mac OS X. Is there a way to make a file un-deletable? It is a public computer, so it must always be logged in under the same user name.

Excel, my bane, my best friend.

Can I program Excel to read a date in a cell, and when that date has passed, make Excel alert me by highlighting the cell or something along those lines? [more inside]

Help me with Excel, please.

Can someone help me come up with an Excel formula? I have a column, and each row in the column has a 9 or 10 digit number. I want to apply a formula that will recognize only those numbers with 9 digits and when one is discovered, it should place a "0" in front of the number to make it a 10-digit number. I will explain why inside. [more inside]
