Is there a housing safety net for a severely disabled person in Canada?

A 69 yr old wheelchair bound man, in SK, Canada, may end up homeless in the very near future. I need to know our options so that he continues to be cared for. In short, all the other safety nets have had holes in them, and we are being threatened with eviction. He relies on me (caregiver/wife) to bathe him, dress him, attend to personal hygiene/bathroom needs. He cannot walk at all, can stand with help, has use of one arm/hand. Living on the streets isn't going to work. Where do I turn now? More details below the fold. [more inside]

Should I let my landlord evict me at any time without notice?

My 12-month lease in Los Angeles finished a few months ago and my landlord now wants to put the month-to-month agreement in writing, which is fine with me. She drew up an agreement containing the following: "Owner can evict tenant at any given time without notice." Should I agree to this? [more inside]

Landlord Part Deux (NYC edition)

Our neighbors are complaining to our landlord about what seem really ridiculous matters, and he is sending letters threatening eviction. We pay our rent on time and try not to bother him. What language to include in an agreement to move out

I am leasing a townhouse in CA. I am the tenant, ex-girlfriend is listed as occupant. 5 month into the lease relationship fell apart. ex refused to move out. She does not work, doesn't pay rent or board. Legal options to resolve are limited. Conditions meanwhile are unbearable and unhealthy. She agreed to accept a substantial amount of cash in order to move. I need a simple legal document to cover my end which I believe should include a) she moves herself and all her belongings out by an agreed upon date in the near future b) she will not return c) she will not harass me. Money will change hands when signing document in front of a notary after keys are returned and her stuff is out. My questions are - should anything else be included in the agreement? She doesn't want cashier's check, cash only. Is it save to agree to this, or do I need the paper trail ? Any other tips are welcome also. Thanks in advance

Eviction/money issues

False noise complaints and an eviction threat

My 80-year-old grandparents live in subsidized housing in New Jersey. The neighbor in the apartment next door has been repeatedly making false noise complaints about them, saying that he can't sleep because they play the radio loudly all night (completely untrue). They were even visited by the property manager to tell them to stop. Now they've received a "notice to cease," saying that they'll be evicted if they don't stop. How can we deal with this without a lawyer? More details below. [more inside]

End of lease renting issue in California - Landlord changed his mind?

Our three year lease (CA, in L.A. County) ended today. We had a prior verbal agreement with our landlord that we would stay through 10/15/13. Today we found a note in our box indicating that he would expect us to move on on or prior to 9/10/13. We have movers scheduled, last days of work, moving across the country, flights and cat transport etc. all planned around moving on 10/15. We're panicking, we realize we screwed up not getting the verbal agreement in writing. If we can't change his mind, do we have any options under CA state law? (Already tried the free legal aid hotlines, etc., and will contact professionals, no one is open on holiday weekend) [more inside]

Rent and eviction with roommates in California.

Renter A has a lease and takes on a roommate, who doesn't sign on to the lease and then doesn't pay their share of the rent. A wants them evicted but can't get them out on their own. What, in California, can the owner of the property do to evict the roommate, while leaving the initial renter? Does the owner have any recourse since the roommate isn't on the lease? [more inside]

Mobile Home Eviction

Just curious: A friend is behind on his land rent in a mobile home park, where a (fairly nice) double-wide mobile home he owns outright is parked. Friend's family being evicted; what are the options?

Eviction and future plans: My friend is 24, a recent college grad, lives in New York. Her father, mother and 3 young siblings live in a house (in Los Angeles) from which they are about to get evicted at the end of the month, having not paid rent for almost a year. Her father has terminal stomach cancer with a prognosis of 6 months. Her father is a disabled veteran and the family had been getting by on his veterans' pension. Her mother speaks, but does not write in English. My friend now finds herself in the position of figuring out how to handle this situation. For the hivemind: Are there programs, veterans' or otherwise, she should know about? General advice? We're at a loss for easy ideas.
