What is the best way to monitor the schedules of speakers, bands, shows, or other things* of that sort so that you don't miss them when they come to your neck of the woods? [more inside]

I'm looking for an app that will create a daily schedule of events (for a conference). Needs to be able to: be displayed on the web, display multiple events throughout the day (hour-by-hour) – some events happen concurrently, link each entry to another web page (event details), and be able to be used by non-programmers.
See sample of ideal look here
Google Calendar comes close but it does not seem to have the ability to link individual entries to outside webpages – and it compresses all events that happen at the same time into a very narrow column so info becomes unreadable, and, of course, each person viewing needs and account.

Our team needs a better scheduling/calendar application. (I've created a mockup (see inside) of one desired outcome.) Its a small team (under 10ppl) but we work 24/7 and would like the schedule to be easy to update/modify. There must be some kind of Web2.0/Ajax-ified hotness for this out there somewhere, I'm just not finding it. [more inside]
