Help me make my camping eurotrip even better!

I am going on a eurotrip in a camper van this summer. What tricks and tips can you tell me that I wouldn't get from reading the normal internet based guides? Do you have any camping or eurotrip based wisdom you would like to share? My three friends from university in the UK and I are going to the Fusion Festival in north east Germany at the end of June. We are taking a borrowed Mazda Bongo for the convenience that driving gives as well as a few home comforts in the form of a fridge and shelter. We plan to get the ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland and camp outside Amsterdam for a week before heading on to the festival above Berlin.

I am trying to plan this trip as best and as thoroughly as I can, and I wanted the advantage of a few tips from metafilter to ensure we don't get caught out anywhere or even some tips that would make the trip easier and more fun.

So please send me your pearls of wisdom that you have learnt whether you have done a trip similar to this before or not.

Thanks!

Screw Chevy Chase

I'm looking for underrated, obscure European vacation stops. A couple friends and I are going to Europe for a month (Nov/Dec), and we plan on doing the whole Eurorail/hostel thing across several countries. 1/3rd of the destination stops are for my choosing, and while I know they'll be making the saturated, obvious choices like Rome, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, etc., I'd like to spice things up with places that don't automatically spring to mind but offer the same level (if not more) of awe. Ideally, cities that aren't automatic tourist stops where most everyone speaks English and there's a McDonald's on every corner (but also not so far out of the way from mid-Europe like some hole-in-the-wall, Eastern-European Caspian city).

What sort of places have you visited that you would recommend?

Should I include travel on my resume?

Do you include travel on your resume? Is it a good idea to include it, or pointless filler? I'm not talking about weekend excursions, but more along the lines of "backpacking after college" type trips lasting weeks or months. I have done two 2-month trips backpacking Europe, Asia, and the mideast, and it never even occurred to me to include it on a resume. My logic being, why should they care what I do with my free time? But this recent NYT article suggests it might be a good idea.

I'm interested in hearing from people who have included it on their resume and any feedback they heard on it, or from hiring people who have seen this before.
