My husband mentioned to me some years ago that he'd never had an actual, cake-and-candles, friends from the neighborhood invited, hats and horns birthday party in his entire life. I'd like to give him a small surprise birthday party for his upcoming birthday in late March, but I have questions about how to actually word the invitations.

I invited a friend to go to an event, and then she invited her boyfriend and other friends. I don't really want to hang out with her other friends! What do I do now?

Wedding Invitation Etiquette - my husband and I are hosting and paying for my stepdaughter's wedding and she has just ordered the invitations without involving us in any way - shouldn't the invitations be sent from the hosts - her father and I? I'm not concerned about the style or cost but I thought we would have the honor of extending the invitations or at least reviewing the contents before they are sent out. Or am I being hopelessly old-fashioned? Thoughts?

Some of my coworkers are being laid off. I'd like to send out an invitation to a Happy Hour so we have a chance to get together informally before "the end". How do I word the invitation?

So, I've been invited to a party at my country's embassy later this week. The formal invitation asks me to RSVP, but I don't do this sort of thing very often, and I've got no idea what the right protocol for a response is. Anyone got any idea?

We're getting married in June at the courthouse. Our parents, and anyone else who's around and wants to go, is welcome to come along but we're not formally inviting anyone. We are, however inviting people to the reception, and I have questions about what the invitations should say.

EtiquetteFilter. Specifically, I'm interested in wedding invitation etiquette. Even more specifically, I'm interested in the proper etiquette for addressing wedding invitations. No, not the proper wording, because I've
found that ... I really just want to know: Do we have to address all of these things
by hand?
